Other Good Adventure Games

Does anybody know of any other good adventure games? I've always been interested in that type of games, but I don't know of any other good ones. Can anyone recommend some good ones for me, preferably more recently made and/or compatible with WinXP?
Recently made adventure games? Surely you jest!

But here's a list of a few favorite ones:

The Gabriel Knight-series
The Phantasmagoria-games
The Monkey Island-series

The Dig
Full Throttle
Grim Fandango
Maniac Mansion
Day of the Tentacle
Beneath A Steel Sky
Legend of Kyrandia-series
Runaway - A Road Adventure
King's Quest-series
Space Quest-series
Police Quest-series
Leisure Suit Larry-series
Ripper
Lighthouse
Connections
Torin's Passage

Aaaaand that's what I've got in my shelf at the mo :D

PS: Welcome! Post often and feel free to pull up a chair and discuss your heart's content(s) out! :D
Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
I think Fred pretty much covered it.

The Goblins series was memorable for me.

ooo, there are a couple more though

The Broken Sword series
The Longest Journey (haven't played the sequel yet though)
Syberia (also need to play the sequel)

I'm sure i'll think of others once i hit post :)
I gots a webcomic! http://yetanothercomic.com
Also, i just noticed that this was Fred's 666th post

Those adventure games are evil! Evil i tells ya!

How interesting. That my evilest post would be a list of the games within the adventure genre I love the most.

Goes to show you that numbers have no meaning beyond what you give them :D

The Longest Journey Series
Little Big Adventure Series (Action Adventure)
Myst Series

Those are missing :P And he said recent. Like 1998+

And I might Add The X Files Game cause it came out rather late in the AG boom.
There's a fairlu recent game called A Moment of Silence. I haven't played it myself (yet), but it seems good from the reviews I've read.

A Moment of Silence is actually a pretty good game. I have played it all the way through. Very intriguing and a good story too.

Also - I would like to recommend Still Life. It's a great game which I really enjoyed.

Lately I've also played the Agatha Christie games (And Then There Were None and Murder On The Orient Express) - decent games that captures the mystery worlds of Agatha Christie quiet well.

If you're more for a cartoon adventure, you should try the Bone games from Telltale Games. I think they made two (Out From Boneville and The Great Cow Race)
.

Yep, I agree with all of those. But you have missed two classics:

Blade Runner and The Last Express. They're essential titles for the adventure game connoisseur.

Was Beneath a Steel Sky mentioned?
I can't believ you guys missed the direct descendents of the game series that started it all. The Zork series. Of the graphic Zork games, there are:
Return to Zork
Zork Nemesis, and
Zork: Grand Inquisitor.

Each of these games are quite different in style. RTZ and GI feature much of the original Zork humor. While Nemesis and GI both feature FMV. My personal favorite is Nemesis which is a very dark and deep tale (on 4 disks).
My absolute favourite of those is Grand Inquisitor. I even went through the trouble to get a DVD version of it. Never forget who is the boss of you!

Speaking of FMV games, The Journeyman Project trilogy is also excellent.

I've missed many good games, as has been pointed out by my fellow peers here; but in my defense, like I wrote at the top - I only listed what I had in my gameshelf at the time of writing ;)

Oh and yeah, I dunno if it counts, but - Spycraft: The Great Game

(I got that one too, but I'm unsure of the genre... maybe action-adventure?)

Ahhh yes, I played a lot of Spy Craft. This is when you're a member of the CIA. I simply refer to it as an interactive movie since it fits in the genre so well. It isn't so much action oriented, it certainly has it but it's there to give the gameplay a little more edge than it is a main feature.

Tell me though, Fred, I noticed in your list you had the Runaway Road Adventure. Is this worth playing? I see it on the shelf at my local gamestore and i'm yet to buy it since I haven't heard anyone discuss it. Please indulge me :) It looks like a comedy to me.
The first game of the two is well worth playing, it's pretty entertaining and well made.

The sequel however looks... iffy.
