Yankee fan, eh? Hmmm. . .I seem to remember quite fondly when my Cincinnati Reds swept the Yankees in the 1976 World Series.
Sweet!
(Yeah, I hear it comin'. . ."What have the Reds done since then? Where are they now?" Yadda, yadda, yadda . . . All true. But: the passing of the years from the last Tex game doesn't diminish their special quality, their greatness, or our fond memories.
So there.)

Big Reds fan here, too Gary! Same with the Bengals. Nowadays we don't think of things like "world championships" ... we just go game to game, getting the small bit of enjoyment out of every win our team produces, and supporting them in their losses.
But a world championship would be nice, I must admit

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
Yeah, I would like to have heard his voice before his throat cancer, which obviously almost rendered him voiceless.

If you want to hear Ruth's voice pre-cancer, there are plenty of clips around, like this one:

If I remember correctly, he had several lines during the movie they made about Gehrig, "Pride of the Yankees." I think he also doubled for Gary Cooper in some of the longshots of the baseball scenes, because Cooper wasn't much of a baseball player.

You know it! I went to the University of Dayton, so it was in my backdoor. I also grew up just outside of Dayton.GarySogar wrote: And a Dragon fan too, I'll bet!
And the Reds just beat the Braves (finally) tonight. 8-7
Basically I love sports to begin with, but I'm a big Flyers, Buckeyes, Bengals, Reds, Cavaliers, and Dragons fan.

Well, Mr. Malloy and litlkeck, the Reds won tonight behind Bronson Arroyo.
But the big news in MLB tonight is that Texas beat Baltimore 30 - 3!
That's right, 30 - 3. . .in the first game of a double header!
What did the Dragons do tonight?
(Gee, is this going to become our own private thread?
