Really looking forward to my Spinner toy! Just hope my unicorn's horn doesn't get bent :( that'd suck. I ordered mine today btw, so this will be exciting when it comes in :D
I'm sorry, but this looks like just another repackaging for someone to make more money. Blade Runner was great. . .but another DVD set?!? Not me!
Never too late for coffee, never too early for beer.
Yes, Sir, all my XMAS's have arrived at once :)
I was at the scifi museum and risked getting in trouble to grab a quick couple of shots.

They had some other great items, Sean Young's dress, and the clear raincoat, etc. but there were too many people about.

Camera phone images, so not the best.
There was so much stuff there, it made my head spin. From the hat of the Wicked witch of the west, to a cyclon viper suit, the Alien Queen, DS9 and Enterprise D model, Tron Suit, the only full lighted model of the death star from Episode 4 . Heavenly fun.
Where's this Sci-fi museum located? I may well drop by when I have a chance (meaning if I ever get my butt over the pond.)

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
OMFG! Spinner! that is awesome Jen :D Yeah where is this Utopia of Sci-Fi?

Thanks for sharing ;)
Very cool Jennifer. I really wanna go :)

Finally! According to what I've read Ridley Scott completed this cut of the movie back in 2001 but problems with the folks who own the rights to the movie has delayed it up until now, it seems.

For information about the history of this edition take a look here: http://www.brmovie.com/BR_Special_Edition.htm
Unfortunately it seems like that site has not been updated for a year.

The Scifi museum is in Seattle believe it or not. Paul Allen owns everything that is cool, I believe.

Anyhow, that was Sunday's fun. I also did tons more stuff on this labor day weekend. I don't want to chunk up a huge amount of bandwith so here goes the link.
ENJOY!!! I know I did!!

Heartwarming pics, Jen. Nature has a beauty all its own and we love see what it has to offer. BTW, my older brother lived in Oregon many years back and, after seeing numerous pics, I've always had this yearing to visit Notrh California, Oregon and Washington. (sigh) Maybe someday. If so, we'll drop in and visit with you.

Thanks for the kind words Jim. I'd be happy to show anyone the sites that stopped in. Summer is the best time to visit. It's pretty gray and cloudly throughout the winter.
Veering slightly back on topic, has anyone here seen the tv series Total Recall 2070? It is a sort of combination of the worlds of Blade Runner and Total Recall (or rather the Philip K. Dick stories those are based on). I personally loved the show, which unfortunately ran for only one season and isn't available on DVD in its entirety. *sigh* Why is all the science fiction on television these days either fancy space stuff or "aliens are among us" conspiracy theories? Where's the cyberpunk? Or steampunk?

edit: Wait, I do know where those are. In anime.

No way in hell. Anime has become too generic. If you want Cyberpunk you have to go back to the 1980s. Doesn't help that William Gibson abandoned the style.. now everyone is. Why hasn't Max Headroom been released on DVD yet?

I've heard of TR:2070 that'd be cool to see on TV. Television is crap these days.

Cyberpunk isn't obsolete. I think we can still learn a lot from it. Who cares if Philip K. Dick is dead.. Who cares if Bruce Sterling wants to bitch about how Al Gore screwed him out of saving the world from Global warming.. The fact is the genre still exists, its still living and if the commercial world doesn't want to realize it then it can go fork itself. That's what cyberpunk is meant to be about.. moving away from Classic Sci-fi in the pursuit of something more familiar. We're still living in the Post-Modern world, if suddenly we went Trans-human then maybe Cyberpunk is dead (because we'd be living in it :D) but I don't see any point in keeping it in its current state.

Plus I've stated in other forums that Anime is not the best way to do Cyberpunk. I know people will disagree but trust me on this, the reason why Cyberpunk was never drawn in anime before 1990 is because the old style of Sci-fi drawing was detailed and looked amazing. I prefer that style to this new anime style.

Have you seen Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex or 2nd Gig? Those take place before the movie, or maybe it's an alternate version of events... Anyway, it's much like a show about a SWAT team in cyberpunk environment. I like it. Lovely username, by the way.

I'm not going to disagree with you there, just stating that it seems to be the only place where cyberpunk is alive and well. Much like Nietzche stating God is dead. At least we do have Deus Ex and System Shock. I still think a GTA in cyberpunk environment would be lovely.

Hmm, Bubblegum Crisis (I still don't understand the name) and the Akira movie were both made before 1990. What about those?

Don't force me to start this debate here too. I'll show you what I mean if I ever get around to finishing Neuromancer: the game. I'm just aposed to using the Anime style, its over used and I think I can do a lot better using Realism in a cyberpunk environment.

Well maybe I was a bit off, but I had thought they were made around 1990.

Also System Shock and Deus Ex are over 6 years old.. They are well and truly in the past. We need to develop something new. A GTA Cyberpunk I fully agree with you, we need something like Cyberpunk 2020 only in a video game form. (I'm aware there already was a platformer, but it isn't that great)

Please note that I am working with SnipaMaster on Deus Ex New Vision.
http://www.newvision.moddb.com (visit the profile) which is re-texturing all the levels at a higher resolution. Deus Ex: Reborn will port it to UT2004 and will let us use more modern things like Dynamic shadowing and ragdoll physics. Lastly HDTP (which I also worked on) is almost finnished and features all the objects and models (including weapons) re-textured and re-modeled. So Deus Ex might not look so dated.
