I am a huge fan of shooter, and even more so of online shooters. My name in counterstrike is Tex Murphy :)

Anyway, I'm just counting the seconds until the Team Fortress beta comes out, and was wondering if anybody was planning on getting it.

To me, an online shooter is about as interesting as a stock market convention. Actually, the only shooters I ever buy are the ones with a good single player story... because I just hate playing against other folks becuase people just get to competitive and it's not fun.

I used to have a lot of kids in shopping for Counterstrike when I was working at EB Games a few years ago. When I could be bothered asking why they bought it again and again and again, they answered with a stupid grin on their faces that "They got banned."

Of course, to get banned, you have to cheat. Meaning, of course, that there IS a large population of stupid brats playing online shooters and doing nothing but exactly that - cheat. Annoying other players endlessly.

Hence I stick to offline games with great singleplayer value. Just finished one ending in Bioshock, currently working my way through again. One of the best games this year, easy.

I'm getting the Orange Box, but I must agree with Cub's sentiments in that online FPS lack the enjoyment you'd think they have. They're just brutal, relentess, not to mention repetitive "kill, kill, kill" approach. I prefer online games that give the player some choice.

I'll be getting the Orange Box for HL2 and the episodes that stem from it. I'll get the PS3 version, by then I should have my 42 inch Schaub Lorenz 1080i/p television. HL2 will look amazing on that.

I love an online shooter. But I do have the agree that it's plagued with a glut of kids who like to give you a hard time, ultimately making it not fun.

But I don't think I'll be getting the Orange Box or whatever. Don't even know what it is actually ...

No, my game of choice will be Huxley ... Massive Multiplayer Online Shooter in a Sci-Fi setting ... drool.

I did consider getting it. I haven't played Half-Life 2 apart from the demo, but with the episodes trickling out I thought I'd wait for a package deal. The reason I eventually decided against it is that this doesn't include Counter-Strike: Source. I don't have any urges for multiplayer shooting, but many mods seem to be using resources from it, so there.

I'll probably buy Portal separately off of Steam. I don't want to miss that one.

Team Fortress 2 has me really wanting to buy it. Have you guys seen the class trailers they've been making for this game? Hilarious and stylish is an understatement.

Atomic V Team Fortress 2 is a lot of fun. Been hooked on it for almost a week now with no sight of putting it down anytime soon. I'd defiantly recommend it.
