Bots...

I'm probably just over tired and should got to bed, but wanted to ask a question anyway... The answer is probably a simple one, then again maybe not, that's why I'm asking it, because I don't know the answer...
Anyway...
Why Are Bots, Registered Users??? Such as the MSN [bot], the Google [bot], the Yahoo [bot]... There are others, but I figured those were enough... I just don't understand why they are Registered Users...
