Quick question....

Is anyone else in here as ticked off as I am about 24 not being on again until next January because of the writers strike that went on a couple of months ago? I am really having withdrawls right now....it's like I've quit crack cold turkey after years of drug abuse....I am really wanting to see some new episodes like now!!! Am I alone?

You're alone from my point of view... I never could get into that show... I tried a couple of times...

I'm just thrilled that House will be back with 4 shows in April... I wish I had a Dr. like him...

Haven't heard anything on Rescue Me even though it's a Summer Show, they usually say whether or not it is coming back by now...

I am!!! BIG-TIME 24 fan. Really ticked we didn't get it this year.

According to somethings I've read, a lot of Late Winter, Spring, and Summer shows will be pushed back up to a year in some cases... Writers will be pushed to work on the Most Popular Shows and Live Events first and then so on down the line...

I understand you and others do like this 24, but if you line it up against all prime time shows, it's not one of the most popular shows and will be pushed down on the list of things to work on first...

Same things is happening to one of my favorite shows, Rescue Me starring Denis Leary on FX... There are rumors that Rescue Me isn't coming back until March of 2009...

They also won't release one or two shows just because they have them written... They will release clusters so that people will still be able to follow the story lines...

If we weren't such shallow creatures that needed this form of entertainment in our lives, I would say that we strike against the networks for making the writers strike against us and stop watching TV... Look at it this way, we can always buy the DVDs cheap later and we can always Download episodes Cheap at later dates as well... But if we aren't watching TV, then we aren't seeing Commercials and if we aren't seeing Commercials then we aren't buying those products and therefore the Networks can't make millions off of 45 second Commercials...
But the human race as a whole will not bond together for a feat such as that so therefore a few of us doing it would not cause any uproar over the matter...

24 is THE show of shows in my humble opinion. I have little or no interest in most of the other series on TV. Personally, I would rather watch grass grow than Rescue Me, Dirt, Lost, Found (if not now there will be one some day), etc. If you enjoy those shows, then knock yourself out. I applaud your choices.

Agreed. 24, from what I can tell, has been one of the highest anticipated shows from season to season. Keifer Sutherland has taken the role of Jack Bauer to one of the highest levels a tv role could ever go. I've never watched a show on tv that has taken a hard grip on me and pulled me in wanting more and more each week. Phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal show. Hey Jim, have you bought any of the seasons on dvd?

Go check out the ratings against all the other Prime Time Shows... It's not in the priority list of immediate comebacks... They'll get to work on it, but other shows will come first...

A lot of shows will be pushed off until the next season/year...

Who cares about ratings? If a movie critic says Don't Go see this or that movie, well, it's probably a decent movie and you should go see it. 24 has done for me what no other TV show has ever done and that's saying a lot since I started watching TV back in the early 50's.

Haven't bought any DVD versions of 24 but it may become a necessity. I mean, like, I need a FIX!!!

I don't believe Critics either, but Ratings are a little different and producers listen to Ratings very much...

That's funny...I have all 6 seasons...the extras are pretty cool, and I've noticed that on 4 and 5 the had extra scenes that they filmed to get you ready for the upcoming season. I can't wait for 7...should be really good...supposedly Tony Almeida didn't die after all, and he comes to Jack to get him to do something else for CTU....very interesting season coming up next year.

And I agree....ratings don't mean anything unless you are worried about your show being cancelled...24 has been signed on again for at least 2 more seasons..so it's not going anywhere because the fan base is big enough to keep it on t.v.....besides, ratings don't kill shows, time slots kill shows. Look at "What About Brian?" That was a good show, but it got killed because it was in the same time slot as...well, what do ya know, 24. That's also what killed Daybreak last year...it was in the same time slot as Heroes....heroes is a great show...and because of the time slot, Daybreak got cancelled...and let me tell you, that show was awesome. Taye Diggs did a great job as the framed detective.

Bottom line, 24 has ruled the Monday @ 9 est time slot for 7 years now....it's no wonder NBC put Heroes up against it in the same time slot because none of their other shows were getting it done. That's why scrubs got bumped from the 9 to the 10 two years ago. FOX got it right when they decided to run American idol at 8 est, then turn around and run 24 at 9. It's a rating bonanza...and oh, by the way, the shows are great. Ratings don't make a show great..writing does....and ratings certainly don't kill a show...time slots do. You can have the greatest show on tv, but if you put at a time where no one can watch it, it's gonna tank.

No ratings don't make a show great, but rating do decide what the Producers do with the show... If 24 has been killing the ratings for so many years, why is it being put on the Back Burner???
Do your research before you argue the point of your show... The show may have been the best for you for the past many years, but it hasn't for the Producers or the Station otherwise it would be one of the first shows to be worked on now that the strike is over...

Actually I did....because of the format of the season....2 hour debut first night, 2 hours very next night, new episode each week until 2 hour finale at the end of the season....because of this format, they couldn't start a new season in the middle of summer, because it would interfere with summer programming that has already been established. Plus, the last 5 or 6 episodes haven't even been written yet....so instead of trying to rush a show out just get it out there, they decided to wait until next season to unveil it so it would be done right and not end up being choppy.

Yanno...you don't know everything about everything. Which is kinda the feel I get from you sometimes.

Put it on FX, it can take Rescue Me's spot, since they are being pushed to next March...

I still miss Firefly. And I wish Farscape would come back.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
you know, I typically don't get too much into sci-fi..not since Quantum Leap...but I did see a couple of the Firefly episodes..it was pretty good.
