out of range

Was playing Overseer last night with no problem. This AM tried to bring up program and I get this:
script entrypoint 0 out of range.
Thus cannot continue the game and I am so near the end - what frustration.
Have no idea what out of range means. Have done nothing between shutting down last night and trying to bring up the program that I think would cause such an error. Just read my email and have not even been on the web.
Do not know what out of range means - can anyone advise?

I haven't gotten around to Overseer yet, I just finished UAKM myself... My best advice would be to check with a new poster we have named SansGUI or check with Nilo... They seem to be well knowledgeable when it comes to these games...

Oddly enough, I have an old arcade cabinet in my garage and I tried to hook my tower from my old pc up to it the other night. I powered up the computer, and everything looked like it was going good until it tried to load up windows, then the screen went black, and it said something to the same effect as that message. Weird...maybe there's a virus attacking only Tex Murphy fans....

That is weird that someone else gets the same message. Trying to figure out if it has to do with my PC or the game. Gee have played the game clear up to this point without any such message so do not know what to think. Have posted a note to Nilo to see what he might suggest. Will let you know if I hear from him.

I think I ran across that message once or twice with the DVD version in Windows Vista. Did you try replacing the files in the game directory with those from Nilo's website?

No have not done any replacing of files because I do not know exactly how to do that and be successful. Am waiting for note from Nilo as to what might be the cause before I mess things up with file replacement. Not too swift at that. But thanks for the idea - if all else fails will try that.

Nilo is usually pretty quick about gettiing back to people... The longest I've seen him take is about 2 days, maybe a couple of hours over, but that was over a holiday weekend so I gave slack for that... lol
Nilo is great either way... Should be able to get you running smooth in no time...

I sure hope so because I think I am about to the end of the game and want to get started on the rest of the Tex Murphy games. I have Pandora going and am stuck there but have a patch/saved game so will have to try it. Do not do too well have multiply games going - getting too old to keep track of what is going on

Meant to add - how nice of everyone to keep me encouraged with notes while I await for someone who has an answer to that message. I did a complete clean of my PC hoping that would do something but to luck:
defragged
disc scan
two cleaning programs
windows malicious tool
Ad-aware
Spybot
and CCleaner
disc cleanup
My PC should be sparkling clean but the message still persists so maybe it is in the game though why it should present itself now is more than I know.

Are you trying to run the game from the DVD or the Discs??? If you are running it from the DVD, did you download and install DVD Express???
There is also a Patch for Overseer...

Nope running it from the regular old discs that I have played before without any problems as I remember. And if there is a patch I need to find same. Will look around - do you know where I might find it?

Nilo has the patch, and the already patched files on his website including instructions.
http://home.wideopenwest.com/~hbech/
Also if you go to either
http://www.gamecopyworld.com or
http://www.megagames.com and search for Tex Murphy Overseer you should be able to find my file archive. I included a self installing version of the 1.04 patch in it.

That's pretty much what I was gonna say, the files that Nilo has already has the patches installed...
Has Nilo gotten back to you in email yet???

SansGui: Found your archieve and have downloaded same. Have Winrar installed and so when I click on the three little books piled on each other a folder opens up with four files in it. This is where I get lost using winrar as to what to do next. I see the TMO_patch file and do I just copy and paste it onto my desktop, the insert it in the Tex Murphy Overseer game file?
Had tried to use a patch with winrar in another game and got quite confused, could not make it work so do need some direction at this point before I mess up the TMO game folder:( Can advise?
And no Nilo has not replied as yet.
