So I was just about to head out the door...

...only to find out that a damn TREE HAD FALLEN ON MY CAR!

Not only that, it was raining so now I have a nice aquarium interior! Giant trunk from a tree I park under outside my house came loose and fell right on top of it, crushing the roof and smashing the back window. Nobody was hurt.

Thankfully I am insured (unlike Tex was in Overseer)... but it is still a damn hassle!

*sigh*

I think I am going to make myself a double and call mother nature all sorts of names.

That isn't pleasant at all.

Rest assured everyone, I was talking to Cub about this, thankfully he's insured and nobody was injured. So far he's having better luck than Tex and his stolen speeder ;)
Anything like this:

This tree (actually one of tree's main branches) fell on my neighbor's car last month.

Any damage to the house?

Pictures! We need pictures!
So is it mandatory to pay for speeder insurance?
That's not kewl Cub... Insurance is a good thing, but I hear you on the Hassle...

Better make it a Triple, not just a double...

Did your Insurance company ask if it was a Ficus? :)

Sorry to hear, hope you get a chuckle about the ficus reference from a TV insurance commercial.
A sansGUI interface is one that does not have the small features called "Windows". The term comes from the French word sans, meaning "without".

SansGUI's are more typically used in Unix-like Operating Systems. The conventional wisdom is that a GUI (Grapical User Interface) help guide the casual computer user to perform routine tasks with Point and Click simplicity. SansGUI's have acquired considerable acceptance for users accustomed to the CLI (Command Line Interface).
Well, just got a call back from the insurance company... it's a damn write-off!

The cost of the repairs exceeds the amount it is ensured for.

This sucks!

Looks like I will be shopping for a new car... and with fuel prices on top of that I am in for some nice financial strain... joy.

-Cub. =o)
That does suck! :( Sorry dude...so much for insurance being there when you want and need them.
That does Suck... I hate shopping for Cars... Way too many options nowadays for one thing and then of course the Fuel like you mentioned, that's only going to go up... And then, even though this was an act of Nature, don't be surprised when your premium is higher when it's time to renew your insurance... At least that's how it works here in the States, hopefully your Insurance people have a bit more business honor than that...

Good Luck in your Hunting... I hope you find yourself a good deal that doesn't strap you too hard...

How bad is the Damage??? They are going to give you money for what the car was worth, right??? Any chance you can find a second hand bodyshop that could help you out??? May not come out looking like it was, but you might not have to search around and get stuck with a car payment you won't be able to afford after a few months...
Just some thoughts for you Cub... I'm very sorry to hear about your misfortune with this...

Well Baf, I could take it to another repairer, but it would still cost more than the payout figure I will receive if I let the insurance company hang onto it and give it away as scrap, so I'm not going to bother.

Already made a few private sale bookings this afternoon and going to meet with them this weekend. Good news is I am bringing two mates with me; one's a mechanic and ones a car salesman, which should prove very handy. Even better news is my GF is out of town for this weekend and says I can use her car during this time.

Thanks for everyone's responses... it is bad luck, but then again, $#it happens.

-Cub. =o)
Kewl deal then... Hope you find something suitable for your needs... Good Luck...

Oh my God. Bringing a car salesman and a mechanic to a sale.

That's like showing up with Jesus Christ and his dad!

Anyway, sorry to hear about your craptastic luck Mat, real shame when $#it like that happens to good people.

THIS F**KING SUCKS!

Insurance company has already taken my car away to get auctioned WITH ALL MY STUFF INSIDE! Stereo, Seat Covers, tools, CDs... you frikken name it, it all got carted away.

I gave the dude a call and said "you damn well chase after that toe truck and grab what you can"... thankfully the toe truck driver took the initiative already and removed everything that he saw for me (like the seat covers, and all that).... but the stereo is staying, which cost me a frikken fortune! Now my car (which I never got a chance to say goodbye to) is gone for good.

Not only that, I can't seem to have any luck finding a new car.

Baf... where's that triple!!

-Cub. =o)

P.S. Oh well, could be worse... I could be in a country figuring out when my next meal will be.
\~/ \~/ \~/ On Me Cub...

\~/ \~/ \~/ Here's another once you're finished the first round...

That F**cking Sucks, I don't think that even covers it... There aren't words to describe how you feel when you've been a victim of something like this, let alone morons putting their toppings on your sh*t sundea...

I'll you guys down under this much, your insurance companies move quick as hell... Here in the states, it would have taken probably a week to even have someone come out and look at what happen, then another 2 weeks for them to decide how much you're going to get and another week for them to mail out the check... So that would have given you about a month to clean out the car and say your good-byes...

You didn't even get 2 days... That's just crazy...
