New to the board

Okay, where to start.
After seeing that you guys and gals number about ... 140 ... I figured another one couldn't hurt. I've been a follower of Tex Murphy for a while, but admittingly, I didn't jump on the bandwagon until Pandora Directive. I recieved my first computer when I was thirteen, and along with the beautiful cutting edge pentium 100, I had a copy of PC Gamer that had a demo of the Pandora Directive on the CD. The demo hooked me, and I've been a fan ever since.

After Overseer, and a hefty computer upgrade, to my horror, I came to find out that the series was gone, and to never return ... or so I thought.

On gamespot, they had a little piece about games that were in development, but never released, and I got around to thinking about the Tex Murphy series that I loved when I was younger, and to my delight, I found a community ... an actual community of people who still keep tabs on the Murphy game universe. I have to be a part of this in some way, shape or form. I actually found this place searching the internet for nostalgic value.

After reading the books, playing the games, and in my youth staying on the old chat lines for hours doing nothing but talking Tex Murphy, I find it refreshing that he still exsists, and might even be getting a new game! Count me in.

I look forward to getting to know all of you ... may the good days begin aknew.

Welcome Mr. Thomas Malloy!
Join us. Feel free.

Alex Bark.
Welcome to out little detective humble aboad. It's always good to see new faces.. helps remind us that we are not a forgotten corner of the WWW, and still going strong.

We all have our fingers crossed too.

A hearty welcome, MTM! You will find your stay quite memorable. Besides being in direct contact with Aaron Conners (he keeps us posted on any possible developements), we write an occasional fanfic, have contests, suffer through various polls (which are really fun but no one will admit it), and just talk Tex trash 24/7.

Best thing about our group? We form an international family - we even got one from Russia! Good ol' Alex. So, may your stay be permanent and your posts numerous.

I'll add my two cents introduction here as well.

When I got to college in 96, my roommate bought Pandora Directive and we played it together. I was astounded at how extensive it was (6 CD'S!). Of course, it was really the first real PC game I'd played, and I loved it. Since then, I played Overseer, Under a Killing Moon, and I'm working on Mean Streets and Martian Memorandum right now. I have played few PC games since then, because I compare all to Tex Murphy games: only when they can promise to give me the same involvement and sense of adventure can I bring myself to play them (any recommendations?).

What I can't believe is that there isn't more support. I mean, who could argue with how engaging the character, his world, and the plots were? Elsewhere on the internet, I've seen it's in almost everyone's top 5 or 10 list of adventure games, most people mourning the death or lethargy of the genre. I want to say to them, "Sorrow not! Despair no more! Bring back the Chandler Street detective and see the rebirth of the adventure genre!" This is a major franchise in gaming history and we can't let it fall through the cracks without due homage and efforts to revive it. God bless Tex, and God bless Those Who Remember.
Welcome Dr... erhh.. Mr Malloy. We hope you enjoy your time here and do meet a similar fate to that of Dr Malloy.

Boy, I hope I don't suffer the same fate he did. That's mighty ... nice of you to say. I remembered it was Dr. Malloy about three seconds after I created the account. Hindsight, 50/50 cent and cheesburgers when it should have been broccoli and what not.

You said fanfic, did you? I don't have much knowledge of HTML, and quite honestly, I'm the most technically inept person I know. But I do love to write. If I get some time, I'll share some of my ... average story telling skills with you peeps. I'm going to be off to Green Bay Wisconsin, and traveling soon, so probably not anytime soon.

Another thing. I like to talk. Well, type. Sometimes I just ramble and ramble on about nothing in particular. If you find me annoying, I aplologize, but I can't help it. I type about as fast as I think, and sometimes it all comes out looking more like a thought than an actual well worded sentence.

Bring Aaron Conners to me!!! I will shake the mans' cyberspace hand for making me a better overall person. Because let's face it, when I was thirteen, it was an impressionable time in my life, and the wit and dry humor I gathered from these games and books really made me into the person I am today. I'd like him to know, he, along with the rest of the people who made the great games we're gathered here to celebrate have really affected my social tendencies. I'm more like Tex then I'd like to admit. Only I drive a truck for a living.

"Hey! What's your arm doing in a sling? Isn't it usually your butt?"

Welcome both.
