Phantasmagoria 2 XP/Vista Installer ( Finally)
I know some people here like Phantasmagoria2 and there are probably even more on this board. For years I wanted to play P2 again in a decent way, but it was technically impossible to make the 65.000 Color version work on anything later than Windows 98. The Dosversion worked with the Dosbox but looked really horrible( and took a lot of the great atmosphere away). Beside that there were a lot of videosequences that didn´t work in a proper way at all, but now someone has finally heard my silent yell for the follow up on what had already happened to Gabriel Knight, an XP/Vista installer.
IF you finally want to enjoy a good round of Phantasmagoria 2 in a decent way -after all these years-, here is the link to the patch/ installer:

I couldn´t help myself and played the first three chapters without pause without having any problems, after I already tortured myself through the terrible , halfworking Dosversion some weeks ago (once again). I read that there were some people having some problems with it ,but on my PC it works perfectly. As far as I understood the guy is still busy with updating the Installer ( It´s still brandnew), so in case you might be one of these persons, there´s still hope at the end of the tunnel. Oh and by the way if anyone needs the Gabriel Knight1 and 2 XP Installers just tell me.
Actually GK1 worked in the Dosbox, but there was quite some trouble especially with the "action"scenes like the mummyscene in the african hounfour .With the XP Patch it works 100 procent perfect though. And the GK2 installer provides the possibility to make a DVD out of the 6 CDs, that removes the Interlace effect in the videos, so it looks better with that patch.

I loved Chapter 3, that's when you finally hook up with Teresa, if my memory is correct... I would have rather gotten together with her than with Josie {I think that was the Girlfriend's Name}... I liked Teresa a lot more...VonGlower wrote:I couldn´t help myself and played the first three chapters without pause without having any problems

I don't care what her name is, I liked her better than Jocilyn {formerly called Josie in my previous post}... "Therese" Rocked... I'm rather surprised her acting career didn't go much further...
Jocilyn on the other hand has been around quite a bit according to IMDB.com... She has done a lot of Adult Movies, not quite porn, but the Soft Core stuff...

The Phantasmagoria2 videos I´ve seen were NOT recorded with the DOSbox ( and not on a XP System but probably on WIndows 98). Because the Dosversion generally looks horrible and you´ll find no site that managed to get the windows version work on xp /vista prior to the new installer, it just wasn´t possible from the technical side. They even made a patch for the windows only version years ago, that switches it in to the dosversion so people could at least play the horrible version. The difference between the 256 and 65.000 color version is really big + plus there were the slow motion scenes, especially when Dr.Harburg and the hetacomb were involved. But doesen´t matter now it finally works the way it was supposed to.
Oh yeah I liked Therese a lot more aswell, she had charisma and was a much better actress than Jocilyn. But I think if they would have chosen an extremely sympathic actress for the actually really nice character of Jocilyn, the player would have have felt very bad about "cheating" her.

That is so grand i am gone look for me disks at once.
I didn't really think of Therese as a Slut... I think she was better looking and was a more determined woman...

Well thats surely not the problem. How do people for example record videos from games that are Windows only games or games that come out today? With the Dosbox? Surely not. And everyone who knows the 256 and 65.000 color versions can see the difference immediately. Beside that, just like I said the good looking version ( which is the one that I´ve seen on youtube) did not work on anything later than Windows 98 until that guy finally came up with the XP/Vista Installer a couple of days ago.Bjyman wrote:How else could they record it if they didnt use DosBox?
That´s why great sites like Infernos Old games on XP site wrote their instructions on making p2 work all around the dosversion and stated out , people who own the windows only version would have to make a dosversion out of it with a special patch.
