NEW WEBSITE PROJECT
Hi, Everyone!
Aaron here with a little proposition for anyone who might be interested. First, allow me to explain the situation:
Chris and I are finally ready to go public with details about the game we have in development. As I've mentioned in past posts, it is NOT a new Tex game. However, we believe it is going to be an excellent game and will not disappoint those of you who appreciate good stories in games. We're hopeful that the game will be successful enough to (1) be profitable, (2) merit a sequel or two, and (3) justify the development of a new Tex game.
Yes, I said it.
We're already laying the groundwork for the Tex game. But first things first.
I don't recall how much I've let on already, but this new game is definitely geared toward the casual gamer market. It's a very different kind of game, story and genre than what you've experienced with Tex, but I think the gameplay is going to be fun and the story is as good as anything we've ever done. We're making good progress on the development and anticipate having an Alpha version by August 1. Around that time, we intend to have a short playable demo available online, as well as a downloadable trailer.
Chris and I feel like we have a great game and a decent chance to be successful with it. In order to maximize our odds of success, I intend to call in every favor with every friend I have in the business to get some buzz going and try to reach a bunch of those people who have enjoyed our games in past and say: HEY! WE HAVE A NEW GAME COMING OUT! YOU'LL LOVE IT! BUY IT!
This is where some of you good people can help out, if you'd like. I want to create a kickass website for this game. Unfortunately, we just don't have the resources to pull it together. Virtually everyone on this project has been working entirely on spec (i.e. for free!), which is the only way we could manage to get it done. Incredibly, it's turned out great considering how little money has been spent.
So, back to my request, who would be interested in working on this website? Clearly, Mr. Lemosy is the master and I would love to work him, but he's also a busy young professional and I wouldn't want to presuppose.
So...anyone interested?
P.S. The reason we didn't do a Tex game this time around is primarily because we were trying out a totally new approach and didn't want to use our old buddy as a guinea pig. If this game works - and we feel like we can do justice to the Tex series with this scaled back approach - we would love to start development on a new game sometime this summer.

Thanks for the awesome update, Aaron! This is very good news to hear!
I know a lot of the folks around here would be happy to help anyway that they can. The website itself could probably be managed by some of the folks like James, Cubase, and maybe a few others (not to place those folks into the position of working on this project without their go-ahead, interest, and consent). I myself would be available for more of the "writing aspect" of the website. If there's anything you can think of to be done in regards to the text aspect of the website, I'll help.
Keep us updated, and I'm sure many others will post their abilities and ideas.

Unfortunately, I'm not quite as technical as some of those on this message board...AC wrote:So...anyone interested?
But on the other hand I share jcarnby's Excitement along with everyone else on this board I'm sure... It's great to hear that there is a new Adventure Game in the works and that it is laying Ground Work for a new Tex Murphy...
Great to hear the news, hopefully your road stays free of detours... Good Luck with the Development...
We all look forward to hearing further updates...

I'm jumping up and down in excitement but also feel utterly useless. Outside of writing, drawing and narrating I can't do anything, and none of this really applies to what's needed here.
Last time I was around and if I remember well, Cub was the truly amazing one in this department, and of course James is the wizard. So outside of feedback and moral support, I guess I'll just grin like a fool in anticipation of more news!
Oh and fantastic news by the way! Tex or no Tex you can count on my support for anything from you guys.

This is fantastic news indeed! Finally we getting to see some of that karma payback we're owed for 2008 having been such a crappy year so far!!
I'm sorry I'm a technical flop, but we do have talent abound on these boards. I'm sure one or more will be only too happy to help out.
Again, that's... absolutely fantastic. Brilliant!
I can't wait to hear more about this new game!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Well there you go AC, you got the man on board... I'm impressed!James LeMosy wrote:Sent you a PM, Aaron...suffice it to say, I'm in.
James, I too would be willing to lend my expertise in this department in any way that I can so if you are prepared to take on the brief with AC, send some work my way and I should be able to help you out. I think by now we are already both aware of what we are capable of, so I am excited about combining talents to make a truly kick ass website.
Let me know.

Hi Aaron
Thanks for dropping by. I think I speak for everyone when I say that this is indeed the most exciting and the most optimistic signs of Tex coming back to life. I'd love to play a role in this. However, there is one issue. I have no experience in web or graphic design. But I really do want to make a contribution toward this project, both as a passionate fan and a long term member of this community.
It may be worth noting that I have experience in writing (whether it be fiction, non-fiction, blurbs, descriptions, plot synopsis etc..). I'd even be up for editing or testing of the site. I'm even willing to make contributions toward the development of the game without financial remuneration.
So, in short, I am very willing to make a contribution to any part of this, it's just a matter of deciding which part of it is suited to my skills.
I look forward to hearing from you
Joel.

Great! I agreed with everyone here.. I too might be willing to lend my expertise in any way but I just been busy lately, and there is no promises overall. I on other hand can contact IGN/Gamespot/NG4/1UP/Gamespy/etc. about your new game on your behalf to bringforth more ppl interests in the game. Just a thought.
Hey Aaron! I'd love to hear more about the project and help with the site. Just let me know - I actually just updated my personal site - check it out if you like: http://www.masterbjorn.com/

Hey Aaron. Its great to hear that you guys have a new game in the works. And I totally agree. You should wait to see if this new approach works before you work on a new Tex game. I think thats a smart move. Unfortunately, my web designing days were back in the early 2000's, and alot has changed since then. But I think with LeMosy, Cubease, and some help from our newest member jane, you should be able to put on a kick ass presentation. And if I remember correctly, I think that Nilo here on the board is pretty good at web design. He has a pretty kick ass Tex Murphy website that has a bunch of stuff. I'm sure we would be willing to help too. But I will also help by spreading the word. Keep us all informed, and we'll keep people informed. Can't wait to see what you guys have got for us, I'm sure its going to be fantastic. Later.

What delightful news. I'm so happy that you are going forward with something you have worked so hard for. I look forward to learning more about this game. As for the website, the existence of my own website just goes to show how little talent I have so I will be no help with creation or design, but if there is some grunt work, then I would be more than happy to grunt around.

I've made a few websites, but nothing "Flashy".
However, for interactivity, I can do Java Applets, CGI scripting and most HTML stuff. However, I have no Flash experience.
Sample sites:
http://home.comcast.net/~pdrallos131681/
http://www.myknexus.com/
Nothing fancy. All written by hand from scratch.
I could also build a Java3D applet which will enable a real time 3D environment (similar to the TexMurphy environment) to run in a web browser. (Users would have to download Java3D extensions for it to work - but that is a one-time operation and freely available.) If such a need arises, I'm your man.
