Overseer experiences and hello from Tex-fan
Hi folks,
I stumbled upon this forum when I was looking for Overseer information as well as the DVD edition of this game. It seemed impossible to get a hold of, but thanks to Jim the old guy I can now play the DVD edition of the last adventures of Tex - so thanks Jim!
I am quite the fan of the Tex games. Although I have never played the older games, I totally love Under A Killing Moon and Pandora Directive. Have played through both quite a few times over the years.
I see people have problems with the MIDI sound in Overseer in XP, and I was no different. But I managed to fix it by turning off "Override 3D Audio Hardware" under Advanced Settings in the RSX 3D Configuration Utility (however, this might lead to some sound problem during a few sequences in the game). I have an Audigy2 card and have set the MIDI device selection in this utility to "SB Audigy 2 ZS Sw Synth". Before I turned off the override setting I didn't get any MIDI either. I hope it may help someone, as the MIDI music sure adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game.
Also, I stumbled upon the Asazi ruins problem (ie. game always crashing after the video of Tex checking out if there is an invisible bridge). Muting the MIDI sound didn't help, and neither did turning the VR renderer to software (this just freezez the game for me). But what did help was getting a hold of CD #3 and using it instead of the DVD, loading the game, viewing the two videos (including the one with the ladder), then saving and switching back to the DVD. So thanks to whoever suggested this in the forum
Well I guess it's back to playing more Overseer now. Just wanted to stop by and say hi
