Seen one with my own eyes, so I'm pretty goddamn convinced. Dunno what they are specifically, but that there is something to the whole phenomena, yes. Definitely.

Care to elaborate?
Yes, fred, tell us more!

(beep-beep) Hi Travis, I see you here on the board. How are you doing???
Yes Fred, do tell...

I haven't experienced a Ghost myself, but I do feel I've experienced a higher power of some kind...
I was driving one night, for those familiar I was near D.C. on the Capital Beltway 495... I was over by the Draw Bridge, this was a couple of years ago when they were doing all that major work and there were Concrete Freeway Dividers all over the place... Well I wasn't paying attention to the road too well... I can't even remember what I was doing, I just know that I was looking down and to my right... My right hand was Not on the wheel, I was doing something with it, messing with the radio I think and my left elbow was propped up on the door and my left hand was casually holding the wheel... It was late there was very little traffic... Before I was able to look up and even see the Concrete Divider I felt some yank the wheel... It was mere milliseconds between the yank and my looking up, but I know that the wheel was yanked before I looked up... So SOMETHING kept me from slamming into that Divider...

Well that's my little paranormal story...

Not much to tell, really. Some years ago I was visiting this former mansion/stately home that's been turned into a tourist attraction and park. Nice place, actually. One of the places to see if you ever come knockin' 'round my town.

Anyway. This place has always been "supposedly haunted." Not too sure about the background story, but it goes something along the lines of there being a party on the property during a time of mourning, and the matriarch of the family that owned the place was really against the whole deal, thought it terrible in these dark times or some such. The party-goers were soldiers who were camped there. My lack of knowledge goes so far that I'm unsure if it's from the Norwegian-Swedish war thingy or something closer to the present like one of the world wars. Long long time ago at least.

So that woman died kinda miserable, I have no idea of the circumstances. She's still wandering the halls. They call her the Gray Lady. They say it's because she looks gray. It's because she's dressed in gray, however. Rest of her looks kinda normal. I'd say around the end of her fifties, if I had to guess (which I do).

So I'm visiting this park with my family. We get separated and go look at ancient stuff that other people owned way back, and I'm passing a doorway. Through this doorway there's a window on the left side, sun shining in. Some old lady walks over to the window from the right, closes the curtains, and then turns towards me. She starts walking towards me, and then suddenly she disappears in mid-stride. I didn't blink. It wasn't some silly actor that ran around the place, it wasn't a trick. Disa-friggin'-ppeared.

So I'm convinced.

Some interesting stories so far! I'm sure we all have our encounter with the strange kind, whatever it/they might be.

An event similar to Bafitis' comes to mind. Took place a few years ago at an intersection I cross on foot pretty much every day, a 2-way boulevard with four lines total. As usual I had looked left and right before actually reaching the intersection and only saw cars on both side at a safe distance. This time though, while I was processing whether or not I had time to reach the sidewalk before the cars came from the right, I very suddenly shoved myself onto the street and started crossing it. I insist on the suddenly because after 3 or 4 steps I was surprised and startled by my own movements, a rather strange feeling in itself. It got a whole lot stranger when my t-shirt tucked onto my chest and I yanked myself back on the sidewalk, after which a speeding car strolled along from the left and missed me by less than an inch.

The whole event spanned about 4 seconds and startled me so much that I stayed on the corner for a few minutes afterwards. I have no idea where the car came from (considering it's a straight line for about a mile and you just can't miss a speeding car), why I jumped into the street so eagerly or why I pulled right back. I still very much do remember the feeling of being jerked back and forth like a puppet however.

Out of control reflexes on my part, or evil and good forces trying to kill and save me? WHO KNOWS! Still pretty strange all around.
