Thinking of Back-To-School Shopping for my son I ended up coming across this Article...

MSN Study wrote: As back-to-school time approaches, many students are entering or returning to educational institutions without a clue as to what they want to be when they grow up! In following a course of study, the surest path to satisfaction and success is to follow your own natural talents to provide a base identity and eventually a sparkling career in your field. Finding the perfect major or course of study can at times feel as elusive as finding the right mate, but we've got some astrological tips for those of you on the quest to rightful livelihood.
Aries
"I'm in charge" Aries will thrive in any occupation that permits advancement and promotion. You are an excellent promoter, and majoring in marketing would bode you well in public relations, sales, or just about any other direction you move. Here's another inside tip: did you know that deep inside of every Aries is the soul of a hero? You would make an exceptional police officer, soldier, or fireman, and Aries does love a uniform. Check out the police academy or career military schools.
Taurus
Does there breathe a Taurus soul that is not genetically wired for success? Ruling the second house of money, your sign might seek a major in economics, which could set you off on a career involving banking, stocks and bonds, or any occupation dealing with finances. Taurus, the solid citizen, would also enjoy working with luxury items: top-of-the-line automobiles, furs, or diamonds. A broadcast journalism or communications major would be a natural for the mellow voice with which the Taurus individual is almost always blessed.
Gemini
Gemini would be a natural majoring in English literature and/or education. The sign of the twins could have two careers simultaneously, and these two particular courses of study go together like reading and writing. The travel industry or any industry based in transportation would feed the Gemini need to keep moving, and a course track in travel and tourism management would be an asset. Working well under pressure, you make great technical support workers and customer service representatives.
Cancer
The tender Cancer soul is good in any nurturing profession. Cancer loves money as much as nurturing, and a major in pre-med or nursing can put you on the high end of the payroll today as well as satisfy your strong desire to empathize and be needed. Cancer also would do well as a stock portfolio manager, bond trader, or in any aspect of banking. Perhaps, too, your natural cooking skills would be enhanced by entering a program in culinary arts, which could bring in a sizable income.
Leo
Born to be in the limelight, whether a doctor, lawyer, or government official, a political science major could send you in any number of directions that would satisfy your dramatic soul.. Another direction would be a liberal arts degree with a major in drama that could lead you toward the stage, where your soul would shine. This particular degree would be an asset in any aspect of show business, from performing to managing, a natural for flamboyant Leo.
Virgo
Happiest when serving others, Virgo thrives as a doctor, nurse, and, with your love for small animals, veterinary medicine. You also have considerable writing skills, and with your highly retentive mind, you'd be a fine editor, researcher, or critic. Majoring in communication would open countless doors for your brand of perfectionism and productivity.
Libra
Blessed with brains, good looks, and a great smile, you could accomplish much. Your strong need for balance and fair treatment indicates a degree in sociology or criminal justice is a natural. Ruled by the symbol of the Scales, you seek balance and justice for all and would make an excellent judge and lawyer. Majoring in music, design, or any number of the liberal arts studies would satisfy your strong creative bent.
Scorpio
With Mars as your ruler, Scorpio, you could be an excellent surgeon, and a specialty could be forensic surgery. Scorpio does best in jobs that require tremendous concentration. This sign makes a great lawyer, and pre-law is an excellent path to follow. You don't like to be scrutinized and need independence once you've proved yourself, so you could also be a detective or a great novelist.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius blossoms with knowledge. Here we have a multitude of choices, from a major in international law, religious studies, or education. You could be the consummate lawyer, doctor of divinity, or college professor, or you can flourish in any career that allows you to share your vast store of knowledge and wisdom. One of the strong needs of Sagittarius is movement, and what better choice than anything in the travel business? You'd make a great pilot, flight attendent, or travel agent.
Capricorn
It's difficult to keep a Capricorn in an entry-level position, and a degree in business administration and management could be the ticket for this sign, whose path of least resistance is to climb. Banking, building, and manufacturing are all good industries for you to pursue. Some of today's finest young actors and actresses are Capricorn natives, and it could be attributed to their sheer will and ability to stick to it through thick and thin. It wouldn't hurt to add some drama classes and give acting a try.
Aquarius
The innovative Aquarius is suited for any major that is new and unusual. Aquarians are the innovators of the Zodiac, and a major in science could spark your already creative mind. A way-out-there individual makes a great scientist and engineer and enjoys working for humanity. Specialties for this sign would be electronics, electrical engineering, or computer science. Other examples of a unique course of study to suit you would be holistic medicine, organic farming, or performance art.
Pisces
It's no secret that Pisces is multitalented. A major in English, literature, or history could help you to spend what would be your dream life: staying behind the scenes writing historical fiction, poetry, or erotica. A more financially rewarding use for your probing mind would be teaching, research, or investigative work of some kind. Pisces, you, too, could be an engineer, and majoring in chemical engineering could be your ticket to that high-end salary in which you water babies swear you aren't interested.

as a Taurus, that paragraph missed the mark altogether. I mean i could be successful as i am multi-talented in facets of the creative arts, but that little angel known as motivation never visits me, while her brothers, laziness, apathy and procrastination i know on a first name basis.

The desire to be needed is certainly accurate, but I'm not too sure about the rest. Well, that and the cooking skills. People keep telling me I should open some joint.
Along those lines, I was spooked yesterday by some old book about first names my grand aunt pulled out of god knows where. Not only was it spot on for me, it described my brother like it knew him all his life, as well as both my very different parents. I'm still a bit spooked by the very lengthy and extremely precise descriptions that comes with each of our first names. It really wasn't some stupid generalities that applies to just about anyone, as each text described a very precise and unique personality. My brother's description wouldn't fit me at all, and our father's wouldn't fit either of us. Mum's was at times closer to mine, but also very different in some degrees.
Spooky stuff all around.

As a Leo I'd have to say that for me it is Half-N-Half... In a way I'm what it says, but I also have many other aspects of my life/work that aren't in that paragraph, that could easily be in other Paragraphs...
I see a few people claiming to be Leos, but I haven't seen too many B-Days coming through over the last month or so... Only 11 more days left for the Leo Zodiac, then we enter the Virgo Time of the year...

Interesting topic you started, Baf. Does anyone know what astrological chart these sayings is based on? As a rule, most astrologers base their predictions on the original zodiac, ergo the original position of the 12 signs some 4000 years ago. Since the entire zodiac has shifted twice since then, your reading the wrong info for your sign (remember the song, Dawning of the Age of Aquarius?). Approximately 95% of all astrologers have been predicting and/or giving advice based on the original zodiac. Too bad so many people believe in this stuff. After all, how can stars affect one's birth and life? Secondly, even if it were possible, 95% of all the info stated is off by two months!!!
So, I'm with Jane on this one. Just my two cents worth.

Oh, I meant sadly sort of tongue in cheek. I am pretty happy with my profession. (I suppose as happy as I can be if I have to work for a living.) I guess I was just lamenting the fact that I'm predictable enough that an internet horoscope can guess my course of study and career.Bafitis wrote: Why do you say Sadly??? Sorry Jim, I didn't bother to note the source... I just came across the article while I was looking around MSN.com...
Just thought it would be a little bit of fun to see if our careers are matching up to what it said...
Dcat, don't think that way... They got lucky that's all... With all the people in the world they are bound to end up matching a few people with the Zodiac list... Doesn't make you predictable...
If you read through all of them, you'll find similarities in some of them, which means people of separate Signs can be the same thing without violating the science of the article, not that there is "Real" Science involved... lol

I'm Capricorn and have read different descriptions of what Capricorn is in the past (they're all a little different and this one is a bit different too). I'm not particularly into star sign stuff though as I don't really put much stead into generalisations of any kind, I just find it entertaining to read sometimes. Most descriptions are about 50/50, there is usually something that people can pick out as relating to them in the mass. I'd say that description is a bit too specific though, for Capricorn that is. First it says Capricorns are totally fitted for the strict and hard business world and then say they're great creatives. Usually Capricorn descriptions are more vague than that and simply say they have the ability to be good at any kind of profession due to being hard-working and taking things practically step by step in their aim to be successful and get to the top.
Anyway I am more a creative person so all the business stuff missed the mark but I did work hard through all my studies to try and get the best I could manage.
