The Official 'What was that Movie Again?' Thread

Sometimes I can remember movies and/or scenes from movies that have stuck with me, but I cannot for the life of me remember their titles, so I was thinking of making a thread here where anyone with this dilemma can try to describe a scene or scenes from a movie, and hopefully with our joint experience someone will know the title.
I'll go first ~

Movie 1:
I think it was an adventure film - I saw it on video around 1991. I think at one point a prince and a princess sliced their hands and mixed their blood, but I could be wrong. I remember the prince was somehow transformed by a witch into some kind of ape. There was a scene where people on an old large pirate-like sailboat were attacked by a large poinson bee (meant for the princess?) sent by the evil witch, and they caught it in a jar. The witch also had a boat, but it was moved by rowers rather than sails. There was a scene where the good guys were on their sail-boat in an icy polar environment and they were attacked by an enormous walrus or whale. Also, they reach an icy cave while sailing, but they couldn't fit through because of the sails. But, when the witch reached the cave she could go right through since her boat didn't use sails. Anyway, thats all I can remember - any ideas?

Movie 2:
I remember very little of this one - I think I saw this one in the early 90s or late 80s also. All I remember is that there was a spaceship, a mountain, a bunch of little creatures that looked just like Ewok ripoffs from Star Wars, and a couple human main characters, one old and one young (I think), but that's all I remember - any ideas?

Is the second one Fraggle Rock?

I never knew that I was desperate for a thread like this till now!

I have a miniseries haunting me. None of my friends remember it. My Mum does, but has no idea what it was called.

It was about a young woman having deja vus. In one of the episodes she visits a hotel or some kind of inn. She has never been there before, but somehow she knows where the exit it. And the exit is supposedly impossible to find if you don't allready know where it is.

It turns out that shes's not the girl she thought she was. She was actually her own cousin. Her cousin had died as a child, and this girl had experienced something so terrible that she lost her memeory as a very young child. Her aunt and uncle adopted her and decided to keep the terrible thruth from her.

The only other thing I can remember is the credits at the beginning of each episode. She has a dream of being chased in a cemetary and she falls into an open grave.

I've spent hours searching the web, but with no result. Can anyone help me?

The 2nd one wasn't Fraggle Rock... Those were little guys who lived underground... Nothing to do with a Spaceship and they don't look anything like Ewoks...
I'm think that maybe you are referring to the Movie Critters, but they didn't look much like Ewoks either... Everything else sounds about right for Critters though...

The 1st one isn't ringing any bells, sorry...

I'm pretty positive the second one wasn't FraggleRock or Critters - it was like an outer space/foreign planet/sci-fi movie that reminded a bit of Star Wars universe, but the story was completely self contained, and the little creatures actually looked just like ewoks, or little teddy bears with weapons and loosely fitting rags ~

I knew there would be at least one other person desparate for a thread like this ~ unfortunately Anne-Lise, your memories don't ring a bell, but hopefully they will ring someone's ~ the quest continues :)

Anne-Lise, what channel did your series air on? That'll help a bit.

Also, any actors, directors, or names of characters, or just names in general will help. Anything. No matter how insignificant it might seem.

A spoken phrase would also help a lot. Quotes are useful!

However, the first one COULD be Prince Cinders, but I doubt it. However that was the only plot I could find that involved a prince being turned into a giant ape.

The second film I'm pretty sure is 1984's The Ewok Adventure. Yes. There actually is a film about Ewoks. Go figure. It's by Lucasarts. Guess why it's not famous. You get one guess.

Now then. My personal demon.

I have memories from being a child, watching an animated film. I'm guessing it was more animated than a cartoon, it wasn't cartoonish in that it was funny-fun-fun. It was an animated story. That's the feel I have of it. 'Course, I could be wrong. So there's that.

The story was about fish living under water, this much I can remember. Or something small living under water at least, sea creatures. And here's the memory - I remember a scene that was very intimidating for a small child to see: In slow motion to very dark dramatic music, a gigantic monster appears from the bottom of the screen, moving slowly upwards. As the music reaches the peak and the atmosphere gets really scary (for a little kid, mind you) it's clear that this 'monster' is actually a human, wearing one of those really really old diving helmets. Really freaky moment, and it was burned into the back of my skull.

However I forgot about it until I saw Finding Nemo, there was scene in that film that brought back the memories hard, real blast from the past. I had goosebumps, literally, remembering that scene from my youth. I'm even gonna go so far as to guess that that one scene in Nemo where the diver appears is an homage to the other film's scene. Because it was pretty creepy seeing this looming thing appear, and then you realize - it's a human!

You know you might be thinking of the actual EWOK Movie where there was a family who crash landed and the Ewoks helped the children find their parents who had been taken by Giants... Does that sound anything like it???

The Ewok Adventure was the title of the movie...

OMG, Fred & Baf ~ after looking up the Ewok Adventure on IMDB it turns out that this is the film! I can't believe it, I would have never guessed they were actually Ewoks, heheh. Gotta get me a copy of that and finally add some closure to this mystery :D

On another note, this thread got me thinking about the first film so much that I resorted to searching Google with the keywords 'ice cave walrus bee witch prince ape princess', and fantastically enough the first link that came up was a synopsis for the film SINBAD AND THE EYE OF THE TIGER (1977), and after reading it it turns out that this is the first film I was thinking of. Unbelievable. I saw it once at a babysitter when I was six or seven, and Goggle provides the exact title for the movie just from those seemingly random keywords. Guess I'll need to try to find this one too - here's the synopsis for those interested :

Fred, I seem to remember a similar cartoon from my youth as well, but I too am drawing a blank, unfortunately :?

Thanks for everyone's help! Hopefully this thread be be as much help to others as it was to me :D

Well Fred, if this was in the late 80's it must have been aired on NRK (we didn't get cable where I lived until the early 90's. And with a satelite dish we could only get Sovjet tv because of the mountains...). Or it could have been TV2 in the early 90's. But I think it was NRK. And the title that comes to mind is something like "ansiktet i speilet" or "ansiktet i vinduet". Perhaps I should e-mail NRK and ask.

Could it have been a part of Midt i Smørøyet?

It aired on friday nights, I think. Absolutely not a part of Smørøyet. It was really scary!

I was only kidding about Fraggle Rock. I haven't the foggiest, but Critters sounds like a possibility.

Well, here's a few links you can use to cross reference. You'd recognize it better than I would, I think. You actually saw it yourself. What you're describing doesn't ring a bell to me.

Do you recall if it was american, british or australian, by the way?

Anne-Lise - I think I may have heard of the program you're describing on another forum... let me ask around and see if anyone remembers.
Update to the above - the show I was thinking of was Maelstrom, a BBC series made in about 1985. On reading the synopsis it doesn't look like the show you were thinking of but you never know...

Plot from IMDB:
"Why did the millionaire leave a fortune to a unknown woman? After inheriting property there, Catherine Durrell travels to Norway where she gets caught up in a 'maelstrom' of murder and terror. "
