Thoughts?

I planned on seeing it.
It's likely garbage. Stone is mentally ill. He sees a conspiracy in everything. I had to interview him in college and I came away convinced he was 100% certifiable. He is smart though, so he makes for a good interview and you can lead him. Which is likely why people like Larry King have him on so much.

Still he is nuts. So you have to take a guy like him and realize that the content of the movie is likely about 10% as truthful as say a Michael Moore film which is a bunch of lies too. Moore at least has an agenda and is sane. He just uses editing to make his points whether they are honest or not because he believes in his overall message. Plus he knows Americans are stupid and believe anything in a documentary.

I'm not a fan of Bush. I just know better than to believe that a movie made by Oliver Stone about him will be an honest and neutral film. I know Stone keeps claiming that, and that is what makes me believe it can't possibly be true.

At least it should be entertaining garbage. Just don't believe anything about it.
Based on a true story.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!

Ah, if only people understood that. I saw "21," the card counting game based on the MIT black jack team. I came out of the movie with people saying "I cant believe an MIT professor really did that to his students!" and this seemed to be the topic of choice for most people exiting the film.

Which reminds me of my experience seeing the Frank Oz film "In & Out," with Kevin Kline. After leaving the theater most people were discussing that they had no clue that Kevin Kline was gay in real life!

I hope people aren't as dumb in your country. Over here the population has a collective IQ of about 70. Put it on film or put it on TV and they believe it. A friend of mine had to take a 2nd job on weekends at Best Buy (an American chain store that sells DVDs, CDs, TVs, computers, etc) and he was put to work in the computer sales section. He has told me that at least once a weekend someone asks for a touch screen monitor like they have on CSI so he doesn't have to use a mouse (or something crazy similar).
We only have 4.5 million people in our country or so. So the general level of common sense is a mite higher than in your several-hundreds-of-millions-of-people packed country ;)

However I wouldn't say that Americans in general are stupid, I know they are not. But there is a major lack of knowledge going on.

I'd rather have That's My Bush: The Movie
What's the point? To give people who already hate him some jollies yucking it up over stuff that he may or may not have done, said, or thought, and who cares whether he actually did or not because it's only "based on" a true story. That's the perfect back-door approach, isn't it? To declare it "almost true" so one can spread unsubstantiable rumors and conspiracies, mixed in with enough truth to make it seem credible? I wouldn't even watch such a movie about Hitler, guys.
I have no intention of wasting money on this film... What is the point in a movie based on an Idiot/Moron/Putz {pick your own colorful metaphor}??? They haven't been advertising it as a Comedy/Spoof...
I could understand if it was being advertised as a Comedy, because I see nothing but unlimited Jokes when I look at Bush...

Dang...when did everyone get so angry? How about we save the vitriol for something really important, like Jack Thompson. I'm so glad that ****** got shut down.

Peace out!

PS Cub...could you fix the mis-spelling in the post title? It's getting on my nerves like nobody's business.
It's not anger as much as it is Distaste...

They've done these movies before. They always just end up being awkward and generally unfunny.

Would that be the one where there's a position available on his staff?

Okay, so maybe that wasn't funny.

If you are naive enough to believe this film (or any other film 'Based' on a true story) word for word then you need to have your head checked. Also, if you need to explain this to people then you need to either give your friends more credit, or wonder why the people who you hang around with are dumb enough to believe such things as word for word.

I am interested in this film for one thing: entertainment. And that fact that it is about such a powerful figure makes it very interesting. But if you think I am going to see it as a documentary of facts then you got another thing coming.

I dislike bush, but being a film goer/lover/student/and budding maker I can appreciate the fact that this is probably a very dramatised interpretation of the president, in which case I will not belittle it or its maker when this is plainly obvious. I will judge it as I do any other film.

Sorry about the type Jen, the R and the T are next to one another and sometimes they fight, and the wrong one wins, lol! Oh, and I'm with you Jen... peace out everyone!
