Pancreatitis Attack...
So I had an interesting week last week... I was up in bed Monday Night/Tuesday Morning, I had just finished watching News Clips on my phone like I do almost every night, I was preparing to get settled in to shut off the light and go to sleep when this terrible pain struck right in the middle of my abdomen, where the ribs begin to split apart...
I had no clue as to what it was and thought that it would just pass after a few moments, so I reached for my pain pills that I take for my back and took a couple... NO Effect... Then it became hard to breathe, because every time my chest area and abdominal area moved caused even more pain... Soon I caught myself not breathing on several occasions, which was not good...
So finally after suffering through the remainder of the night, I asked my wife to take me to the Hospital... I was admitted and didn't get out until Saturday afternoon...

Hope you're ok now. Did they give you advice on how to deal with it? My dad used to have it and it can be caused by a large number of different things and once you have it you have it, so you need to look after yourself, and sadly one cause is alcohol, so you might need to cut back on that too.
It's not nice, but I'm glad to hear you're ok.

Thank you for the good wishes...
For Advice, the only advice really is to eat Fatty food Sparingly... I'm a decent health eater, but with most, I'm sure I could use some self discipline...
Sadly no, there is no real fix as to how to stay away from it happening... I had my Gall Bladder Removed in '04, but even though they take the Organ, they leave the Ducts that were connected, {I don't know why either}... But in those Ducts Stones can still develop, but instead of being housed in the Gall Bladder {since I no longer have it to house the stones}, the stones pass on through and can cause inflammation of organs such as the Pancreas or Liver...
So, sadly I could go through this at any given time my body chooses to produce a stone and irritate an organ of its choosing...
Even more worrisome is the fact that a Pancreatitis Attack can be fatal... That is if it goes untreated, though... I have Health Insurance, so I don't plan on letting it go untreated, if it were to happen again...
Over 95% of people have Stones in their Gall Bladders, but go through life never experiencing anything from it... Sometimes when you might get an unexplained abdominal pain, even if it's very mild, and then it goes away a short time later, you could have very well passed a small stone...
In my case with my Gall Bladder, I had a rather large stone that got stuck in one of the Ducts, which is why they removed the entire thing...

I had a Liver episode about a month ago due to a Cholesterol Med I was taking... I go in for a Biopsy of that this Thursday... They are suspecting that I might have what is known as a "Fatty" Liver, which is a rather common thing, even people who don't trouble could have a "Fatty" Liver and never experience problems from it... So it's rather common, but depending on certain Meds you take it could cause a conflict, which in my case a month ago it did... Made my Liver pretty much shut down on me, my eyes turned yellow, I had pains, along with some vomiting... I didn't know what it was at first, made an appointment with my Dr. but before my appointment came it had gotten worse so I ended up at the ER... I was given some IV Fluids and told to stop that Med along with Aspirin products for the time being... Just a Few days off of the Cholesterol Med and the pains all cleared up things went back to normal, of course until my recent episode, which I'm being told is Unrelated...
The Biopsy thing is pretty much a run of the mill type thing... I lay there, hold my breath for about 20 seconds and it's over... Then I have to lay there for a few hours to let them check my Vital Signs and whatnot to make sure there is no internal bleeding...
So needless to say, it has been a very eventful Fall for me so far... I just hope I clear up all my health issues before the end of November, when I'm suppose to take the Family to Disney... I've already passed the Refund Deadline, so I'm not trying to lose that kind of money...

I appreciate that and certainly hope the same myself...litlkeck wrote:Sounds like a horrid ordeal. Let's hope the worst is behind you, and you have no more stones.
Continue the healthy eating, and let's hope that this is the last of the issues for you.
