An interesting night...

So...some of you may know, and others don't know, that I've worked as a security guard at The University of New Mexico, which is where I'm going to be getting my degree this December. I've worked security for almost a year and a half now, and I've been involved in some interesting things...policy violations, propped doors, drug arrests...a few other things.

Tonight was pretty cool though. Encase anyone was not aware, Senator Obama made a trip to New Mexico today, and held a rally right in my own backyard, and security jurisdiction. So, I just got out of about an 11 hour security shift involving securing of the residence halls for Obama's visit, as well as observing for open windows and other suspicious shooter activity during the event. It was pretty cool to see Obama (well, from a distance) and we had many thousands of people on Johnson Field for the event (the local newspaper is saying 45,000...don't know if I believe that...but...).

Regardless of everyone's political views, its pretty exciting to be involved in an event as enthusiastic as this one. And to be working parallel to secret service...that was pretty cool too. I'm dog tired...but it was worth it....now I just have a crapload of homework to do tomorrow for next week's classes....eeek.

Congrats... I'm sure it was quite the experience... Always good to have a story that you never tire telling over the years... Because lets face it {no disrespect to the McCain supporters}, but Obama is most likely going to be the Next President and to have a story like that to tell around the Dinner table for years to come will always be a solid topic you can use...

LOL, I barely saw the secret service guys...they were all stationed on top of surrounding buildings. Since this was at night...I'd assume they'd taken their glasses off...but you never know...

They have special sun glasses with flashlights in them so they can see.
