If I was a Merican, my vote would go to Barack Obama.

Doesn't matter what country you're from... This is just a discussion thread for the most part anyway... Most of the US Politics are broad casted around the world any how... So you're views are welcomed, maybe even more so because it gives some insight in how the world will view us after January 20th...

IF I get out to the polls I will go for Obama as well...

They have both flung mud at each other, which unfortunately is to be expected... But I think McCain has flung a lot more than Obama has...
Most of us Americans deal with Mud on a daily basis, we don't need our Leaders throwing it as well... I'm beyond pissed at how dirty this campaign has gotten, from both parties...

Obama keeps trying to stick the McBush idea into peoples' head... While McCain keeps trying to call Obama a Boldface Liar... Obama says he isn't raising taxes on the middle class, but McCain keeps saying he will...

And I know Palin isn't to blame {so I'm not trying to bad mouth her}, but what is wrong with the Republican Party, spending 150,000 dollars on clothes and makeup and stuff for her... That is just uncalled for... And I heard that they paid her Hair Stylist 11,000 a week, A WEEK!!! That's twice as much as McCain pays his Foreign Policy Adviser...
She was a Mayor and is a Governor {and was a Beauty Queen  }, you don't think she has tasteful clothes???

You know what I find funny... You hear all this Coverage of Obama... You hear all this Coverage of McCain... You hear all this Coverage of Palin...
What's Missing???
That's right, you don't hear any Coverage of Biden... We still hear more Coverage of the Clintons than we do of the Vice President Candidate...

Also something strange with the Democrats... Barack Obama, Joesph Biden... BOTH have the exact same amount of letters in their names... You think Obama did that on purpose???

Of course. You see, Obama will pull a Michael Jackson in a few years time, and then he'll just rearrange the letters in his name. He'll then hire Christopher Lloyd to make him a new DeLorean, and come back here to secretly win his own election as his own Veep. Done deal.

I'm a frickin' psychic, I am.

Or, I dunno... It could be a coincidence, I guess.

I hope Obama wins and I will vote for him. However, I also know that McCain still can win because the dumb old hateful redneck vote demographic is so strong.

Yeehaw!! lol!

On a serious note though, I think it will be a close one... but I personally think Obama might take this one. We'll just wait and see I guess.

Yep, my two college degrees mean nothing next to my Guns and Religion.

Seriously, you probably think what others say about your candidate and party are so hateful and single-minded, only for you to turn around and spew that sentiment without compunction.

What a terrible generalization.

Honestly, I don't mind who people vote for. It should be a personal decision based open ideals you've fleshed out for yourself. Since when does voting for a certain candidate, because their politics are more aligned with yours, have anything to do with being a "hateful redneck?"

I hope that's some severe sarcasm, because frankly I'm fairly hurt. But, my redneck feelings might not matter.

P.S. Let's talk about happy things for a while :D I hear Jim has a dynamite new tapioca pudding recipe!

I just can't pull for a man who roots for the Arizona Diamonbacks.....go Obama!!
"Some men aren’t looking for anything logical. They can’t be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.”
I'm voting for Mickey Mouse. Unlike the major party candidates, Mickey has a club made for you and me. Also, I believe a fictional cartoon character would make for a better president then this years wide selection of two.

Bah humbug!

P.S.
To quote the Simpsons:

Kang: It's a two party system! You have to vote for one of us!
Random Guy: What about a third party?
Kang: Go ahead! Throw your vote away!

Oops, sorry. I forgot to mention that I used to be a registered Republican. I listened to Rush as a teen. I voted Bush in 2004. I was even in College Republicans. I wrote an article in the college newspaper about what I thought it meant to be in the GOP. I was dumb. I was hateful. Maybe I still am a redneck. But I want to make up for it.

I also did a little campaign work in '04, so I know that the GOP's success is in part owed to the dumb and hateful. Really. Bush appalled to people's emotions, not their minds. That's how we won in 2004. Smearing Kerry as an "intellectual" was cake. But the Dem. deserved to lose, because they were like the Keystone Kops and could not counter our efforts. They were so clueless. If they lose again, they'll deserve it again, and I'll be happy to be right.

Very slowly, I began to see the error of my ways, yet I cannot be moved to join the Dem. because I'm still wary of them. I'm voting Obama, but it won't make up for all the deaths for all the deaths caused by a war I not only supported but looked forward to. :(

It's been said that "W" is the best thing that ever happened to the Democratic party. That must be true, because if it had been McCain in 2000, I'd still be my old self.
I don't really think McCain has much ground to stand on anymore... He has smothered himself with Mud Flinging these past couple of weeks and he has really turned off a lot of people... While Obama has mainly stuck to the issues at hand...
But, Like I said earlier, both have done a good share of Mud Flinging... Which in itself is a reason that I may not vote at all...
Personally, I don't think there has been a Candidate Worthy of the Presidency in decades...

As for the comment of the Redneck thing, I've seen people holding signs on the News that read "Redneck's For Obama"... So just because someone is a Redneck or Hick doesn't mean they'll be voting against the Black Man... Redneck isn't the same as Skinhead...

As for Parties, I think for the most part about 85% of voters are really Independent anyway... Republicans have had issues that I've Agreed with, while the Democrats have had Issues that I Agree with... So whoever touches the most of my issues and has a feasible solution for my Issues is who will get my vote...
Right now with the way things stand, Obama has more sensible solutions for the Issues that I say are most important right now...

You also can't Ignore that McCain is up there in Age, so you have to ask yourself, "Is Palin Suitable To Be President?"... There are a lot of people who don't think McCain would live out his first term, which by default would put Palin in the Oval Office... I don't think she is ready... Granted, I don't know that much about her, but what has been made public, I don't feel she is capable of holding the most powerful office {next to Tex's Office} in this country...

That's something we could do... Get everyone to do a Write-In for President and we Write-In Tex Murphy...
If we get enough people to do it and he earns at least 1% of the vote, they have to put his name up on the News... Could be widespread Advertising, because everyone will start searching that name in Google/Yahoo/MSN... Tex could be Reborn...
Okay I guess that's a little too much, but you gotta admit it would be really Kewl to see "Tex Murphy" next to those names on Election Night...

I don't think a reasonable person can look at the FACTS behind both candidates and choose the dumb guy.

One finished next to last in his collegiate class. The other finished 1st in his Harvard Law class.

One has an IQ bordering below average. The other has an IQ bordering genius.

One has single handedly been a major factor in the biggest economic collapse in almost 100 years. He has also claimed to "not understand economics." When you consider his IQ and education that isn't hard to believe.

The other wasn't involved because he wasn't present. He however made statements while in Illinois about the economy and how it was possible it could head down the road it did head down.

One voted for a war in Iraq that we had no reason to start. The other was against it but again not present to vote on it.

One wants to lower taxes for everyone! The other wants to raise taxes for those that can AFFORD it to pay off the massive debt and deficit.

One has spent $150,000 on clothes for his VP, paid a makeup artist the equivalent of a $572,000 annual salary. The other spent $3M to buy 30 minutes of air time to speak to the people and describe his plans for us to all understand.

The only thing that could make someone pick the idiot who skated through college (and was only in that college because Daddy was an Admiral) is ignorance. Anyone with any kind of intelligence can't possibly look at both sets of plans and side with McCain. The only way you can side with McCain is if you've been brainwashed (and if you voted for him, you likely have been). I know that will make some people think I hate or some other nonsense, but not really. I just understand the policies and the system better than others are willing to admit.

I have yet to meet anyone who is voting for McCain that can logically tell me one reason why any of his plans are better. I hear a lot of repeats of the rantings of Rush and Bortz and that is it. No one has yet been able to claim one logical reason why McCain is a better choice.

1. We have to raise taxes, we're in debt and spending more than we make. Only one "class," of citizen can afford the hike right now.

2. We have to open up dialogue with other countries. Reagan did this with the USSR and that eventually lead to the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

3. National Health Insurance plans are better than a $5,000 tax cut and trying to change laws to allow people to buy insurance from another state.

4. 22 Nuclear Power Plants in 10 years isn't doing enough.

5. We can't "lose," the Iraq War if we leave. We already won. After every war the loser is left screwed over and left to rebuild/civil wars. Why care now?

For those who care I was a registered Republican. I fully stand behind the ideals of conservative politics. I'm all for less government and more freedoms. However my Party was hijacked by some crazy religious fanatics and greedy bastards. They decided "freedoms," meant no regulation. That lack of regulation allowed our economy to go down the drain.

George Bush was a GREAT governor. He worked with Democrats to make Texas a better place. When he became President all those abilities went unused. He bowed to the people who got him elected. He did whatever the "money," needed done.

John McCain in 2000 lost to Bush because of dirty politics. He decided he wanted to be President and that meant CHANGING to be what the "money," would back. John McCain is a shadow of his former self. Just as Bush became a shadow of his former self.

If you don't want to look at specifics of each policy and want to make a rash decision, then I say fine. Pick the smart guy. We're in a lot of trouble as a country. So the smart guy seems like a good choice. I personally can't pick the dumb guy. Bush as dumb as people call him is smarter than McCain (by IQ and school grades).

Interesting analysis, and a good read.
