Anyone Know Anything About Cats?
My sister and I are currently sharing an apartment and her cat keeps taking a dump on my carpet. I am getting really pissed at her and she will not stop. I have a cot for my friend to sleep over on weekends and whenever she forgets to pick it up from there the cat takes a $#it on it. I know cats get distressed easily, but is she pissed off at my friend being over? Usually when she comes over my sister is out college-ing it up. Does she miss her or something and think that my friend is a replacement or something and that's her way to express her dissatisfaction? I am at my wits end with this. I am at the point where I want to build a door to keep the cat off my floor. What do you guys think?
How old is the Cat, how long have you had it???
It could be the Cat Litter you are using, some cats respond differently to Litter, even though you buy what might be considered the best for homes or apartments your cat my not like it... Also, whenever the cat does it, you have to respond as you would with a dog... Show the cat the mess, tell 'em it was bad and put them IN the cat box... It will probably take quite a few times before the cat gets the message, just like it takes a dog a few times to get the message to go outside...
Also, same with dogs, when you have noticed the cat going in the Litter Box, some little cat treats are always nice...

Carefully skin the cat. Then flush fur down toilet. Then filét the meat from the bone. Flush bones down toilet. Then sell remaining meat to nearest chinese restaurant for big profit.
Alternatively, bond with the cat. Let it feel you love it. Make it trust you. Then carefully teach it to poop where you want it to. It's called housebreaking.
Or, if you're really good at manipulating people, make your sister sell the cat.
The options are many and varied.

Actually the cat is about 5 years old and has been trained for a while. I really hope it would be something as simple as the kitty litter issue because that's an easy fix, but it seems larger than that. The only thing that is different is that we moved to this new place in September, however this problem cropped up very recently. You would think that it would have happened immediately when we moved in. The only other thing that could be doing it is that my sister isn't home everyday anymore since starting nursing. She could be objecting to her through this means BUT she shat all over her stuff and that one has seemed to have stopped. I don't know, I think this is deeper than what is immediately brought to the surface. I'll let you know of further developments as the occur.
Oh the crap batting might be able to stop if you get one of those litter boxes with a lip on it so it can't bat it out.

Oh, I just thought about this one - Put the litterbox where the cat's pooping! Then it'll have to poop in the box!

Cats are a law unto themselves. I had one that would wee under a chaise-long but if you caught it, she would run - she knew it was wrong to do it but still did it. We could never get her to get back out of that habit before she went to the big cat maker in the sky.
As for finding poop around the flat - can you get a litter box with a lid? So the cat can only get in and out from one side? It's less likely to get it out the litter box if you try that.

5 years old huh... Cats are usually set in their ways by that age... Try moving the cot that your friend sleeps on to a different spot and see if the cat starts messing in the new location... That will at least tell you if the cat is having jealousy issues between your sister and your friend...
You're sure it only happens when your sister is gone for a bit and the friend is over??? Or does it just seem to happen more when the friend is over???

This is rather funny.
She never used to do the poop batting thing, because we originally had a box with a lid.
Then we got a 3rd cat and needed a second litter box. My sister-in-law gave us her old one that was lidless.
Thats when it started... so i thought... get another one with a lid and this should stop. It even had a flip door on it.
Not long after we got it... she figured out how to scoop it out of that too.
How she does, i have no idea....
but she does.
Weird thing too. One of the litter boxes is smaller than the other... but they all use the bigger one. The second one is pointless... cause it is never used. When i go to clean it, it is completely empty. Go figure.

Well my mom's dog dropped by for a week so it was really mad at my sister for that so she crapped all over her bedroom during that time. Just when the dog left my friend came over for the weekend and sure enough crapped where she usually does so the cat definitely has issues with us not paying attention to her when others are over.
