Thanksgiving...

Nothing... we don't celebrate thanksgiving.

Being Australians (or ex Brits if you want to get historic), our history indicates we are not as partial to giving as we are to taking!

But I am thinking of doing a Christmas turkey. Never done one before... should be interesting.

Absolutely nothing. T'is my day off before a week (7 days straight) of work. With like, 12-hour shifts and whatnot.

And by 'nothing' I mean play Guitar Hero IV and slack about reading my newly acquired comics. Picked up the 12th trade paperback of 100 Bullets, Warren Ellis' Black Summer and the 3rd tpb of Garth Ennis' new series The Boys. Amongst others.

So yeah. Slacking. Oh yes.

Yeah I know we have quite the International Board here and Thanksgiving is Mostly an American and Canadian Holiday... Though I believe Canada celebrates it on a different day... Frank or someone will have to confirm that though...

I'm normally not very big on the Huge Dinner gatherings myself... Thanksgiving isn't that big of a holiday for me usually... I'm not that big on Football, so it doesn't phase me a whole lot that the day is full of games and I'm really not that big on Turkey, I'd just as soon have a Glazed Ham or a Roasted Chicken or something...
Christmas Dinner is nice in my family though, my mother always seems to find a huge ham, well glazed spiral cut, peels right off the center bone...

Cookouts are the best though, nothing like a good rack of Ribs on the BBQ...

Canadian Thanksgiving is a month earlier than the American Thanksgiving. Aside from that I think it's pretty much the same. Except for the Black Friday, we have the equivalent of that on Boxing Day, the day after Christmas . . . sometimes the whole week.

I'm going to my sister's for Thanksgiving.

But tomorrow, I'm having a little Thanksgiving preview. I got dinner and a movie tickets at the Palladium Theater tomorrow for Twilight. On the menu is a Roast Turkey and Ham Carving Station, Garlic mashed potatoes, Swedish meatballs, Honey Glazed Yams, and some other sides dishes.

Sort of a Thanksgiving style meal, only 5 days early.

I'm going to avoid family and cook a nice meal all for myself.

From 1988 through 2005, my family and I have had a Thanksgiving tradition where our families from my dad's side and mom's side have gotten together at a state park in Texas and rented cabins for four days. Still, due to ever changing circumstances, that tradition has sort of fallen apart. I think the only things we have planned is a quiet dinner with my parents and a few of my mom's Yoga friends. Should be fun...I'm looking forward to it. Also because I'll be off work for four days, and school too.

Talk about an Exhausting Week... I didn't realize I could walk so much in any given day and I did that for 6 days in a row... On top of Driving 16 hours down and 17 hours back... No layovers, just a straight drive, stopping only for potty breaks, food, and gas...

The bad news is, we didn't get to do everything and some are already planning a return trip... 8 of us went in all... My family of 3, my brother's family of 3 and my parents... 9 if you count my Puppy... I just couldn't stand to board him, so he had to go... My brother's daughter is only 3, so a return trip is being planned for when she is older anyway... My son is 10 and had some sort of attitude at least once a day the whole time we were gone, which put some stress on everyone at the times of the outbursts...

All in all it all seemed to be a good trip... We got to do everything in Magical Kingdom, everything in Hollywood Studios, about half {maybe a bit more} in Epcot, and about half in Animal Kingdom... Animal Kingdom was a bit of a let down really though... It's already been crossed off the list of places to visit on the next trip... It wasn't warm enough to go to any of the Water Parks, I think they have 4 Water Parks down there, so those are on the list for next time as well...
We also went to Sea World and did everything there was to do there, but Sea World isn't really that big... They are being sold next year along with Busch Gardens, quite possibly to Disney...
There is also a Gator Farm down there I wanted to go to, but just ran short on time... The next trip is being planned for about a 2 1/2 week stay, maybe even 3 depending on everyone's schedules...
