James Bond Title cinematics

Recent days I've heard from friends that they didn't care so much for the title cinematics of the new Bond films. At the same time I've been watching old Bond films I've missed, and some of their title cinematics are either bad or the song is awful (For Your Eyes Only, Moonraker). Here is a list of links to all Bond title cinematics, and a question.

What is your favorite James Bond title cinematic?

Mine is the one for Tomorrow Never Dies.

I haven't really cared for any since Connery stopped playing Bond... And I haven't watched any of his Bond films for a couple of years, so I couldn't really give you a Favorite without reviewing them... But I do remember liking Goldfinger a lot... I know I really liked Gert Fröbe as Goldfinger, but I can't remember if Goldfinger the movie was my favorite...

Bronson brought the films back, after a long period without any Bond films, but to me it just wasn't the same...

Man that's a toughie.

Esthetically speaking, Tomorrow Never Dies is probably the nicest. It's soothing, beautiful, sensual, and the song is in perfect tone. It's a little too perfect to earn my "favourite" tag though.

There are a lot of good songs that got ordinary or mediocre cinematic: You Only Live Twice, Live and Let Die, Thunderball, and my favourite of that bunch, The Man With the Golden Gun.

The themes tend to either focus on Bond, on the Villain, or on the Story.

Of those focusing on Bond, the best has to be Casino Royale. It was a nice reboot, recentering and repositioning Bond. The animation is fun and the song is catchy.

So which is my favourite? With all that said, it's a split decision between one focusing on the baddie and one on the story:

Goldfinger. It's classy, catchy and the song is 100% pure Bond. If a title could summarize over 40 years of films, it'd be this one. Not really the lyrics, not really the music, not really the cinematic, just the mix. Like a good drink, it's all thrown in there with no real recipe.

Goldeneye. Great song and performance, intriguing cinematic, and a little something extra. If you pay attention to it, after seeing the movie, you'll notice absolutely everything is revealed during the title, sometimes in what you see, sometimes in what you hear.

Final note: My absolute favourite song is From Russia With Love. For some strange reason which I'm sure is explained somewhere, there are no lyrics in the opening sequence, only the instrumental version. The singer is amazing, and the song makes you instantly dream. It's a damn shame it's not featured in the opening title.

I like You Only Live Twice and The Living Daylights. Also, Goldfinger is good.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Die Another Day for me... Also my favourite Bond movie.

2 Words - Tina Turner So I think I dig Goldeneye the best. However A View to a Kill always SCREAMS the 1980's so I dig that one too. (shut up I loved the 80's, except for the style. Didn't like that when I was IN the 80's AND NOW IT'S COMING BACK.) Plus A View to a Kill also had the awesomeness that is Christopher Walken. "Ping Pong" lol gets me every time. (unrelated film.)

EDIT: I forgot Tanya Roberts was in that one too. Hmmm a Tex connection, interesting.
My fav Bond films and their theme songs:
1. Goldfinger

2. Live and Let Die

3. Casino Royale (Craig)

4. Goldeneye

I'll see you cines and raise ya one better: My favorite Bond women.
1. Ursala Andress - Dr. No

2. Carey Lowell - License to Kill

3. Eva Green - Casino Royale

Fav all-time bad dude:
1. Odd Job - Goldfinger

2. Jaws - The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
if we're talking Bond songs, i have a fondness for 'Live and Let Die'

As for openings, as long as it has silhouetted women and guns, it works as a Bond opening :)

As for films, well my favourite bad Bond movie is Moonraker.

I'll have to think about my favourite. Most of them i haven't seen since i was a teenager. 'The Man With the Golden Gun' rings in my mind though.

Where's "Never Say Never Again"? Is it really the same as "Thunderball?"
As far as I know, it's not an official Bond-film. It stars Sean Connery as James Bond, in a remake of Thunderball. However I don't think it's from EON.

You're right, Fred. It was NOT an authorized Bond film. And, while it had some good moments, I thought it to be a cheesy takeoff from Thunderball.

JTOG! How are you? Feel like I've not seen you in ages. You alright?

I'd have to go with Eva Green for the Bond girl but as for credits, hmmm, there's a lot I'd exclude but will have to think about a favourite.
