I would like to know more about the case where he got the 10,000 Dollar Check that is hanging on his wall in Pandora... He used the money to pay off his debts and remodel his office/apartment, which left him with $4.12... 10 grand, sounds like it could have been a nice case to work...
I'm guessing this wouldn't have FMV or anything like the regular games... Are you thinking of it all being in Cartoon or just point and click with limited movement??? What are your ideas for the basics of this???
Details such as the case or items can be filled in later, getting a layout for the environment and interaction from the player would be the things to work on first...
It's a grand idea, but I think the project would end up buried like the other Fan Projects have... It sounds good at the beginning, but once involved the amount of time and work just become overwhelming, usually... I'm not saying it can't be done, I would support it and even pay to play it, if it were to happen... Just a lot of work involved in things like that...

Tex got the $10.000 from the Mutant's League after solving his major case as shown in the 1994 classic Under A Killing Moon. You might've heard of it.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Was it from UAKM's case??? I don't recall him saying exactly what he got it for... I guess it's time for a replay of the games...Fred Buer wrote:Tex got the $10.000 from the Mutant's League after solving his major case as shown in the 1994 classic Under A Killing Moon. You might've heard of it.

I do not have any ideas as for story just yet but I have a production company so the entire thing would be shot with live actors. I was thinking something simple like a dvd game utilizing dvd menus since i have absolutely no programing knowledge but could quite feasibly create a dvd game. there would be no moving around 3d environments but instead hot spots where tex could pick up inventory items or search something in which it would cut to a shot scene.Bafitis wrote:I'm guessing this wouldn't have FMV or anything like the regular games... Quite simply I have not idea why the production of another Tex game would cost so much shooting the live action sequences seem to be brought up as being a very costly part of the deal but I do not see why. I am not just saying this I have shot several features and short films and there was even that FMV game murder by numbers I think it was called.
Anyway we did a fan film of a tv show back in '04 that was really successful, we shot 13, 10min episodes and got over 200,000 hits on almost every episode. Most of our fans from that project follow the stuff we currently do so i figured that might be a gateway introduction for new Tex fans, but first and for most, I would really need the support of AC and CJ and all of you.
I am not saying it would be as good as Tex or as epic in story telling but I have the resources to pull it off effectively.
Let me know your thoughts.

You'll probably have to PM the admin of this site (James) to forward on your question to AC/CJ (or maybe someone else has a way of passing on an email). Maybe you could make it a fundraiser project. But I guess it would need to be *very* good for people to pay money (even $1 or less). Or you could have it optional I guess. I would only trust a 'donation' site owned by AC/CJ themself though or UnofficialTexMurphy.com but it could be arranged for the film to be put up here. But I guess you'd have to ask AC/CJ though first, because they may say that 200,000 $1s wouldn't be enough to fund a new Tex Murphy and so then there might be a lot of annoyed payers, but hey who knows, maybe that a long with the funds they'll hopefully get from their upcoming non-Tex Murphy mystery game will be all accumulate into enough. If they do and you get their official backing then get AC to make a short post announcing that fact and I'm sure you'd get a *lot* of support from the community if the project were to benefit the future of the Tex series.
(Also you should tell AC he can use your production studio to shoot the FMV scenes for the next Tex game on the cheap
! )

Hmmm..creative director for a successful gaming company, salary 80-120k a year I'm guessing. That's one.
Sell your successful business to MS for a boatload of money. Start a new company catering to the upper class golfer that can't jet out to Mauna Kea or Pebble Beach as much as he'd like.
That's two. BTW LOVE the new slogan.
That's a bit of cha-ching floating around. I never understood folks posting on the board saying that THEY were going to buy the Tex rights. If they were available for anything reasonable, I'm guessing that TPTB would have scarfed them up. Cyberpunk's plan seems the most feasible, make the game, a whole viable product, and shop it to the owners, oooh and ahh it, make it a low risk investment for WHOEVER owns the rights this week....
(or is that whomever)
But we've not heard anything on 3CTM, the current baby in production, so who knows what's going on? Does that bode well?
Crud, I don't know.

Check the Fan fiction portion of the board. Vracar, JTOG, RandomanA, and I have all penned fan fictions. Cubase made audio episodes. Might want to give those a look.
There was a very big, and I'd say rather good story penned by Jim with the inputs of many about 4-5 years ago. All I seem to remember was Dr Paul's details of the super weapon involved, but I know there was a lot of good stuff in there. Enough to fill some lines anyway, if you need a head start.
