I have finally solved it

Black Dahlia is another one of those classic games I never managed to play (apart from the demo). Is it still available? How is the compatability?

A lot people compare to a a tex murphy standard. Has 8 disks- virtual drive game.
most is FMV, when you solve a puzzle (jim the main character) you actually watch him in video sequence solving the puzzle. Worked well in 95/98 but not xp.

I was referred to it a few years back & I found a near new copy on ebay. I think it would be hard to find now. If you can get a copy play it you will like it.

No don't ditch the Win98... You never know when a game from your past might come back that you want to play and need a Win98 machine...

Just stick it in a closet with a trash bag over it to prevent dust collection...

yeah that's what I am going to do pack it up from the pc room & store it. Trouble is old machines battery on board goes after a while. It's not that ancient actually it's P4 2.2ghz
but ancient in comparison to my current pc's.
It's a dual boot 98 & xp & it shits me to use it as it's hooked up to 15"lcd monitor which is too small. Anyway I will have a look what games I have on it & then pack it away.

Haha! That's EXACTLY what I do. Actually, am thinking of bringing it into the lounge room now that my TV has a VGA input! Tex on TV, is there any finer phenomenon?

What exactly are the batteries good for besides the Clock when the machine is off??? It won't hinder the use of the Machine if it were to die, would it???

They are only watch batteries, you can get them at a store like Walmart for 5 to 7 bucks give or take...

Removing your battery for extended periods of time will clear your BIOS/CMOS

yeah, you need it for the bios, I wonder if it would be idea to back up the bios on a disk.
not even sure if you can do that.

No it cannot be done. Just replace it quickly if you need to.

It's been so long since I worked with the Hardware of computers...

If you are afraid that the Bios will end up clearing go into it before you disconnect it for storage and write all the main settings down and then just tape it to the side of the computer and put it where ever you're going to store it...
That way if/when you have to pull it back out and turn it on, if the battery has died you will have all the settings right there to fix it...


I don't think you really have anything to worry about, unless it's 10 years from now when you pull it back out... I've fired up computers that sat for at least 4 years if not 5 or more and had no trouble...

Would black dahlia work in vista? Not that I have it, but it's a game that I too never got around to playing, despite wanting to.

This place has opened up many games I never got around to as well as games I hadn't even heard of... My list is so long at this point I doubt I'll get to all of them...

Is this game played from DOS? If so, maybe the Doc can put it onto a flash drive.
