The remake of monkey island got me thinking

There are some great games that were made a long time ago when graphics were very basic. I would love to see a remake of some of those. I would love a remake of some of the old kings quest games, or Countdown by lucas arts. Imagine how awesome Tex could be with today's graphics.
There have been a lot of discussions on this (aside from Lucas Arts being the publisher).
I think Day of the Tentacle needs to be remade.

A remake of day of the tentacle would be great.
Why? Day of the Tentacle stands fine on it's own even by today's standards. If anything needs to be remade it would be Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Maniac Mansion needs to be remade. That game is very dated.

Yes that would be awesome if they remade that...
So many games that could use a remaking, but question is would they sell... As much as we here may like them, would today's gaming generation take to them...

Forget remaking them as games... turn some of them into films! What was great about Lucas Arts was the cinematic style and scripting of all their games. You'd be hard pressed to find an old LA game that did not have all the ingredients needed to make it a fully fledged screenplay.

I like the idea of making them into films. I do have fond memories of some games and enjoyed some of them just for a laugh, but wouldn't have the time (or probably much inclination) to play them all again from start to finish, especially if playing time is 10-30 hours apiece. Movies of each would be great.

Cub, if you ever get the chance to direct and/or produce Full Throttle as a film, I want a cameo as one of the Pole Cats!

Alternatively the role of Bolus

My two LA prime movie candidates have always been Full Throttle and Grim Fandango.

Grim I'm afraid to touch, being such a wonderfully crafted little thing. Full Throttle, that one will be a movie. Oh yes, it will.
Part-Time Nomad
Grim Fandango is a shining diamond as it stands. It is perfect in it's own right, and needs not a sequel or a filmatization or a remake. It stands as a testament to perfect game creation.

However I would probably kill to see Full Throttle as a film. After all, You Can't Beat a Corley!

I'd like to see MegaMan done as a movie... Kind of surprised with today's special effects and computer graphics that no one has done it...

I personally think Grim Fandango would make a GREAT animated movie. Provided that the story, characterisation and cast stay the same! As for Full Throttle, definitely cinema worthy! But the question is: 2D, 3D or real-life?

Full Throttle I would go with Animated style like they did with 300 or Beowulf... It would work as a regular Film as well though...
