I only watched half of Borat, so...I can skip Bruno.

I thought Borat was very entertaining. So I would very much like to see Bruno.

I didn't find Borat even remotely funny, so I'll be passing on Bruno... Though I will admit that I found it Hilarious when he stuck his hairy ass in Eminem's face, even though it was staged...

Wow, no love for the Brunat.
The thing about the kind of movies that make up Borat and Bruno is that they are a specific type of humor; and humor is something that's very relative according to different people. Which is why people are divided on like and dislike.
Borat was okay...definitely nothing I need to see again. A friend of mine thought it was the best movie he had ever seen. However, he also loves the Jackass movies, whereas I just don't understand what is entertaining about watching people do stupid things and hurt themselves.

You either love it or you hate it.

I have not had any inclination to see Borat. But I feel I have already seen it 5 million times becuase everyone always says "verry naaice!"

Anyway, Bruno looks likt it may be pushing the envelope a bit... which may find it appealing to less people, but it will appeal to many at the same time.

It's one of those movies you cannot take too seriously.

Anyone who takes these movies too seriously will be offended.

I'm a fan of most types of humour.... I like intelligent humour such as George Carlin and movies like Juno, and your occasional satire....

But I also like humour that allows me to turn off my brain and just laugh.
For example, the Rhino birth scene in Ace Ventura 2. I thought that was retardedly funny.

And you're right Frenzy... Humour is extremely subjective.

I must admit that I am amongst the ranks of people who love the work of Sacha Baron Cohen. Yes, the humour can be a little brainless and cringe worthy, but there's also some substance there. I much prefer this to the likes of Family Guy or Southpark because I feel characters like Borat and Ali G (to an extent) hold a mirror up to society and for a few seconds make us think.

I certainly wouldn't argue that Cohen is a pop culture icon for Sociological thinking, but there is some genius there to be admired. There is much more to Borat than the over-quoted "niiiice" or "sexy time".

That said, from what i've seen on the show, I have to agree that Bruno is the lesser of Cohen's characters. In regards to personality and intellect, Bruno is more or less a smarter, homosexual mesh of Borat and Ali G. Not a lot new here. I'll more than likely check the film out but i'll wait for DVD.

Exactly. Borat was a parody of contemporary cultural practices and beliefs in the form of a mocumentary. If people are looking to find commentary on the collision of racial tensions, they've come to the wrong place.
