Okay you can use this for your Terminator reviews if you want, but I'd like to get a question answered first if anyone can???

The rating for T-4 is PG-13... As was with Star Trek... Now I wouldn't have labeled Star Trek as a PG-13 movie... Take out the Green chick in her underwear and it's kid friendly enough...

What I want to know from anyone who has seen T-4 is, it appropriate enough for an 11 year old??? I remember back to the First Terminator and there was nudity and sex in it, parts 2 and 3 stemmed away from all that making them more child friendly if you don't mind your children seeing that kind of violence... So I'm just wondering if there were any scenes inappropriate???

The violence I don't really care about too much, he gets that in video games as it is... Gore I go back and forth on depending on the graphic level of it...

I don't care about Spoilers, so if you have to spoil something in order to give me a decently detailed answer, I don't care... Thanks for any help any of you can give...

I see T4 as a more serious version of Transformers. It's still a little cheesy, but with a lot less candy and a bit more grit. The violence level is mostly the same, but there are no real comedy moments to cut through it. From memory, it's more gory than T4, but no worse than T2. Definitely not the kind of violence T1 featured, and no sex whatsoever.

As for your poll, T2 is still the champ. It's hands down one of the best action flicks ever made.

Yeah I'm a fan of T-2 myself... I don't care for Furlong, but I did enjoy T-2 quite a bit... Even though he didn't have a lot of lines, Robert Patrick was an awesome Liquid Villain...

I don't care about how child-friendly a film is. A film is child-friendly as long as you don't have scary stuff popping out with the intention of scaring and not showing actual sex, as in genitals in motion. Everything else is fine. Lovemaking is a natural thing and will occur in most people's lives at some point or other and I will not screen that sort of thing from my children. I have no problems talking to my nephews and nieces about such things, nor will I have any problem with my own kids when that day arrives.

I should say 'if' here to avoid people thinking I've knocked some poor girl up. But I digress.

Violence I'm a lot more vary about, because I want to know that the kid knows it's A) Make-believe and no real people got hurt, and B) Not okay to actually try that at home. If those criterias are met - I'll pop in Army of Darkness and share some great laughs with the kids.

I'm a firm believer in developing common sense in one's kids, and having them understand that certain things are natural, other things are kinda scary but still okay as long as it's on film, and have them enjoy a movie for what it is, rather than be confused as hell because I never took the time to educate them about how fiction works.

Aaaaaanyway. <coughs embarrasingly> To get back on track!

T-2 rocks the casbah, T-1 comes in 2nd place, T-3 doesn't count as far as I'm concerned and tbh I've not managed to go see T-4 yet as it's just been released on cinemas here. Well, technically two weeks ago but I've been working stupid shifts lately.

T-2 was my least favorite of the series.
For me, the order is T-1, closely followed by T-3 and T-4, with T-2 way, way behind.

It's amazing how different people's preferences can be so varied on these movies.
I feel compelled to ask, doc. What put you off T-2?

I'm on the T2 bandwagon also. It's still a definitive action movie with a strong cast, good writing, highly impressive CGI that still looks good today and a pretty awesome Director.

I can kind of see why DrPaul puts T1 as his favourite. Although I prefer T2, I think of T1 as the forgotten classic. Whenever the Terminator is mentioned, people automatically refer to T2. that couldn't have happened without T1.

Terminator 3 kind of came off as a parody. I didn't mind the toned down action, I just felt the characters were dumbed down.

Examples:

- When John Connor asks Arnold if he remembers him or "Hasta-la-vista"...then he actually had to explain it to John. I mean come on....

- When Arnold told the service station clerk to "talk to the hand". In T2, the Cyborg didn't begin using human phrases until the later parts of the film after much character development with John. Here, he's using it after only being acquainted with John about 20 minutes.

- I also should say I didn't like the actor playing John Connor in T3...too soft.

- Ms. Loken was fine though ;)

I haven't bothered with T4 yet. Still not sold on the trailers.

There were things I liked about T-2, but they were just outweighed by things I didn't like.

First of all, I didn't like the kid who played young John Conner. Actually, I should say that I didn't like the style in which young John Conner was portrayed.

Second, I didn't find the hard-guy version of Sarah Conner to be believable or endearing. Same actress as in T-1, but totally different character.

Finally, I didn't find Robert Patrick's terminator character to be even the slightest bit intimidating.

The characters I did like were Arnold (of course) and Miles Dyson (the guy from Cyberdyne Systems.) And the CGI was pretty cool.

Strangely, I thought the super-model Terminator was actually much more intimidating than Robert Patrick. Maybe because she was an ice-cold femme fetale and maybe also because she carried an impressive set of weaponry.

I actually liked T-3 quite a bit because of the way a lot of seemingly random events eventually worked to tie the whole series together and how John Conner sort of had greatness thrust upon him rather than it slowly evolving. To me, it was a magic moment at the end of T-3 when he's on the radio and identifies himself as John Conner.

Anyway, I think that the kid and Robert Patrick ruined T-2 for me. I know this puts me in a small minority, but that's the short and long of it.
Alrighty! I will admit there are scenes in T-2 that I can pass on regarding Furlong, but Patrick's still cool in my eyes. I do however see your point, though! Thanks for sharing!

I know this effects people differently when it comes to movies, but when I judge them, I judge them by the overall emotional movement factor. To me Judgement Day had that. The camera work, the themes, and everything came together to make a package that to me was an emotional and visceral experience. When it came to T3, I just didn't get the same feeling from the actors. Hell even Arny seemed to be a bit different in three. And I know it was supposed to be advancing the story, but at the end of two there was a clear cut bad guy, and there was a battle between good and evil with good triumphing, and then sacrificing for the greater good. The end of three was just depressing.

Now I can't put t4 or t1 in the running because I haven't seen 4 yet, and it's been so long since I seen one, I don't remember it at all. (I was veeery young.)

What? You mean you don't have them on DVD? That's horrible!
I feel the same way Doc does about the Furlong Performance and I feel the same way Fred does when it comes to Robert Patrick... If I had to pick one to be the best though I have to go with 2...

I'll pick T-2 as T-3 wasn't improvement I was expecting the similarly style of T-2.
T-2 still champ.

T-4 was decent w/o Governornator of the T-films. (Despite he did cameo in T-4)

From what I've heard all they did was splice together pieces, Arnold didn't do any filming for this movie...
That's what I've heard anyway, could be true, could be misinformed, I don't know...

*hangs head* I know. I could probably get one for a really good price now, too. Four I'll end up getting just because we have to have every damn sequel there ever was in my household.

But I'll agree with Robert Patrick thing. He's totally blah as the guy who is supposed to be kicking Arnolds butt. If they were gonna have someone go up against him they should have picked the guy they got to play Hellboy, ole what's his name.

By the way, good to see ya too Doc! If I remember correctly, you're a programming sort, or something like that. I played that Text game Tex adventure you made that one time based off the book I do believe. I remember that actually being a lot of fun. Did anything ever come of that?
