The general update... Cub style... (the Cubdate, I spose)

Happy J22 everyone... not much happening on the boards you say!? Well think again!

First of all let me say what a pleasure it is to have Malloy back again and posting. No doubt he is going to be a bad boy and nick off somewhere again and we will be chasing after him for a few weeks... in which case I might have to find you and kill you myself! That said, what I mentioned in the other thread should be put into practice: a contact detail exchange, probably to only a few members (to hold contacts) so that we may find a way of getting in touch with folks should they disappear for a while. Speaking of which Fred... how are holiday plans going for that mammoth time off!?

Also in the news the GOG revisions of the Tex Murphy games are phenomenal! I've been waiting for a few days for some $$$ to transfer into my Debit account so that I may buy these bad boys and re-live the good times. It's really good to see the community a buzz again with this news. That's probably why some of you have been preoccupied!

Three Cards to Midnight was able to whip up a storm as well, and while I have been viciously inactive on the TCM boards, I have played the game. As I have already told Jen, it's a good game, but not my cup of tea... but it's definitely a positive step for the old Access gurus and its appeal has been positive, as well as its future ramifications for Big Finish games.

Lestat's new house and pics are awesome to see. It's a great place you have there mate... I think you have more rooms in that place than you have names to call them all!

Overseer AMC's Tex inspired detective short film was a great laugh... for people who have not yet seen it, check it out here: http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/mess ... f=1&t=2402 ...I am surprised more people have not shown their support for this video. It's shows a lot of creativity and determination, and I want more!!! So what say you Bill?

Jen, where have you been girl? Maybe I should be chasing up your contact details, caus you seem to have really slowed down in your posts! Would be great to have your input again. You too Jim! I am putting at least 4,000 more posts on your bucket list!

Morten!? You all psyched for your wedding in August? It was really cool reading up on your bachelor party surprise... but so early means you can probably have a few more!!! haha. Although I am sure you could do without more paintball bruises. Maybe try shooting targets this time that are not breathing. lol.

So you see, there is a lot happening on the boards lately, and it's great to get updated from everyone with what's going on in their universe!

And from the Cubster's universe

While it may be disappointing I have not pulled another Cub in some time now, I have been rolling with the ups and downs...

Firstly, I am living back at home. It was a short lived experience at my apartment, but all good things come to an end. While it is rather un-inspiring being back at home, the time apart helped strengthen the relationship with my folks.

I have finally been inspired to finish off my album. Zwah!? Album you say? Well I have been working on a music album for the past couple of months, but I plan on having that finished before the end of the year. You guys will be the first to hear the trax and provide your opinions and feedback. As for what style it is in... try mixing orchestral score and motifs with a bit of Ben Folds funk and jive and you have my genre right there.

And for the biggest news of all:

For the past few weeks I have been dating my high school crush!

Back in high school (7 years ago! Damn... has it been that long!) I used to know this girl, Mel. I remember her becuase I had to pick my jaw back off the floor every time she walked by. She was cool, wild, and insanely gorgeous. As for me, I was not a geek or anything like that (much), but definitely not a part of the cool and popular gang so while we would talk I remained the gentleman and maintained our acquaintance becuase she was, after all, a really great person to get along with... but beyond that a relationship was only ever a pipe dream, at least in my opinion.

Anyway, after high school I never really saw her again, until a couple of months ago when we tracked each other down on Facebook (oh god how I love facebook!). She still looked as good as she did back in school, and I of course developed into a much more confident person (she probably saw some of my facebook photo albums, hehe). She sent me a message asking if I remembered her... I had to think for a bit if I did (haha, not!). Anyway she said it would be cool if we got together and catch up, so we went for coffee. After chatting for a while we really started to hit it off. We spoke about the high school days, and then she asked me something that made me want to kick myself: "How come you never asked me out in high school?"... after bashing my head against the wall for about 5 minutes we soon realised that this time were were going to be more than just acquaintances. the rest, as they say, is history.

So there you have it, good things come to those who wait. I only hope I don't screw this one up, haha!

Well, that's your world, my world, life, the universe and everything!

Over and out.

-Cub. =o)
Good karma to you, mate!

As for me, I'm writing. More than this I am unwilling to speak of at this juncture! Other than that, no big plans for the summer, really. I'll see what it brings me. For I am a free man and enjoying my freedom as much as I can!

Also, before anybody else says it - you gotta post a picture of yourself and this girl. But mostly of this girl. For we are the curious ones. Keep it decent!

Hope everybody has a great summer!

Sheesh!, Cub! I think you forgot to mention that post by Ryan Patton back in 2002. Other than that, your post was all inclusive.

Good to hear you are dating a high school - what's the word I'm looking for - "student" that you liked but never thought she would like you. Anyway, those are the kind of love stories that movies are made of.

Between Fred's writing and your music ( and other adventures) there should be a grand future for the rest of us mortals. I'm sure I speak for the group when I say we eagerly anticipate their arrivals.

I miss Jen's posts, too. And I still miss Ripley. (heavy sigh) :(

And while I do NOT support Morten's upcoming wedding, I will go on record by saying that I WILL freely support any bachelor parties. j/k Actually, the best to Morten and his mate.

Ditto from TOG regarding Malloy. I missed him VERY much.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
Nice run down Cub... Glad to hear that your setback has been mostly positive for you... So I guess from a few months ago it has gone from a setback to a leap forward... Always a good thing...
My high school crush recently found me as well... We're not having the outcome you are of course, but it's amazing how 15 years {OMG did I just say 15 years} has gone by and she hasn't changed a bit... My 15 year reunion is next year... I wonder what they'll be doing for it this time... I missed my 10 year reunion due to Neck Surgery I had back in 2005...

Seem to be a lot of writers in this community... I'm currently working on a Novel myself... I'm only at about 100 pages right now, but I'm hoping to make some good headway on it soon, when I have more free time to work on it...

I nominate mr. LeMosy. He's the most obvious choice, if we're to centralize things.

I can 2nd that nomination, but I thought it was going to be 2 or 3 different people... What if by chance Mr. Lemosy himself is the one that goes missing, who then would have the contact information??? Or what if the Word file that the information is kept in gets corrupted or accidentally deleted???
There should be at least 2 people with the information...

I think maybe James, Cub, and Jen...

I am happy to take on this responsibility if need be, alongside those others nominated. It would only be telephone numbers so its relatively safe, and of course we will keep the list to ourselves, and only break the seal in case of emergencies! lol ...and foot the bill for those long distance calls, haha.

Baf, great to hear about your writing... 100 pages is an amazing feat so far! And that sounds great re: your 15 year reunion. Bummer you had to miss you 10 year one... but I am sure this one will be much better.

And Fred... sounds mysterious! I won't bug you about it, but know that I am keeping an eye on you. o_O

Jim, good to hear from you again, as always. I too think about Ripley sometimes and occasionally read older posts and sigh, but smile about the times as well.

-Cub. =o)
Yeah the 15 should be better, especially since I've recently got reacquainted with a bunch of the people I went to school with... They had thought about an outdoor cookout type thing in one of the local parks 4 years ago, but they ended up having it in the winter so had to use a catering place... Hopefully we'll do the outdoor thing next year...

So regarding the phone numbers, should we just send them to you, you'll make the list and then give the list to James and Jen???

As far as a phone number goes, because I'm currently in hiding from various people and government officials, I don't carry a phone number. That's not even really a joke, except for the government part. I can offer up however, my address, for snail mail. I'm still on the lower end of the money scale, and probably bring home a whopping 15 to 20 grand a year, so you never know when something might go out, break, and there is just no fixing it until I get the monetary funds to do so. I have no problem with giving my address though, because I know none of you will come and kill me ... except for Cub, which inexplicably said he would!  Imagine that, my computer goes out and an Aussie shows up to my house talking all about "That's not a knife ... this ... this is a knife."

As far as everyone being writers is concerned ... I've only got one question for ya ...

Oh great, just great. I hope he doesn't work for the state department, or has anything to do with a project Gillhammer.

Not at all. Please elaborate. Spare no details.

I'm liking these Cubdates. Where can I register for more?

Way to go on the high school chica btw. That's the stuff dreams are made of

Ah, yes I did. It cost me about $1,000 to rebuild the RAID-0, but it was worth it in the end as they were able to provide a 100% data recovery... so all went well in the end, and the Television Network got the show in time.
