Need Some Emotional Assistance

I haven't really been around as of late, and here's what's going on. So my parents bought me a new car recently (YAY Free Car!) but I also recently discovered that the money for my contract at my current job has been spent this year (BOOOOO!) Also my employment insurance has been denied as I have not worked enough hours because I have never filed before (BOOOOOOO!) and I am about to lose my home so I may actually be living out of a storage shed and my car . . . AGAIN! No word of a lie! On the other hand we might be doing something for the CBC - Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, kinda like the BBC and we beat out hundreds of other applications for this gig and are down to the final 4! (YAY!) If we get the contract it will earn me and my business partner $50 000. Here's my problem . . . what the HELL should I be feeling right now?! I find myself in a brain cloud. Granted IF that contract goes through my problems should be solved but we still have 3 other appicants to compete with . . . and one of them WORKS for the CBC. Really, I'm at a loss here as to how I should be feeling. HELP!
I suggest being optimistic for now. You've gotten pretty far in the selection process, so you've gotta have something going for you, right? Besides, spending all your time worrying about what might go wrong will just distract you from making it right.

And...good luck with the contract!

I suggest focusing on this project that could help solve most or all of your problems... The other stuff you apparently can't change and fretting over them won't get you anywhere either...

Don't worry about the guy working for the CBC, just because he works for them doesn't mean they will favor him... If that was the case they wouldn't have bother with the application process... It would have been a waste of time and money on their part... So you have just as good a chance as that guy... So just focus your energy upon landing that gig...

I'm really sorry to hear that you are falling victim to this economy... I'm sure I can speak for everyone on the board when I say our thoughts and prayers will be with you... Do try to keep us as updated as possible... And of course, Best Of Luck landing that contract...

Every morning when you wake up and look in the mirror and every night after you brush your teeth and look in the mirror before going to bed, be sure to give yourself a Smile... Keep your thoughts positive and focus on making your project the best...

Dude, you've made it through some amazing hardships already, and this is simply another one you will get through in time. You are an amazingly talented person who is not afraid to put himself on the line for his passion. For that you will be one of the most successful people. In the meantime, keep your head up and treat every hardship life throws at you as a challenge, smile up, give grace and luck the middle finger and keep on walkin'!

Positive events form you, just as negative ones shape you. Take solace in the fact that whatever happens you will be stronger for it.

Now go forth and kick ass and make us all proud. No pressure!

No, seriously. Good luck man!

Honestly, if I were in your position, I would probably be feeling the same way you are with the brain cloud. However, I fully agree with everyone else here. You've been through a lot, and challenging situations in life shape every one of us. Just get out there and do your best.

Me? What I'd be doing was preparing myself for the worst. And I don't mean throwing my optimism in the wastebasket. It seems you're teetering between "I get the gig -- yay!!" and "I don't get the gig -- lose everything." The second part is what I'd be guarding against. Don't hang your hat on this one gig; not getting it would mean that you'd have to secure something else, and I wouldn't wait around to hear you've lost your chance with the CBC before I'd start trying to secure something else. Beat the street, look for other gigs within the CBC, something that will be a plan B other than "live out of a cardboard box". :)

Best of luck to you!
