I can't believe it's been 13 years.

I'm new here and I recently started playing UAKM and Pandora again. Met Tex for the first time on Mean Streets for C64 and longed for the MS-DOS version with its Realsound.
Sadly, I didn't realize something like DOSBOX existed. But last night I started Pandora again and was a little nervous that it just wouldn't hold up. Yeah, the first few minutes were tough on the eyes, the textures seemed so blocky, video so poor; but after that, something happened, I was pulled into the story and the graphics seemed great again. It really was like going back in time.
And what a game it is. It's really one of the best games ever made. What a great story and what a great engine to run it.
Even though I was a huge Tex fan, I was never able to run Overseer on my hardware at the time. It was only 1 week ago that I almost bought it on EBAY, but now that GOG's got it I think my prayers have been answered.
So desperate was I, that a few years ago I bought a dubious little game called "Conspiracies" just because it looked Tex Murphy-esque. Man, what a disappointment.
Anyway, Tex is an old friend and it's great to be in his company once again.

Welcome to our little community here... We do hope you stick around for awhile... It's always great to see/meet a Tex fan... You're joining us at a good time too... Lots of hype going on about Tex's return... And the creator's of Tex are working together again which is also very promising in the return of beloved P.I...
Feel free to stick around and join us in our many discussions...

We're a pretty tight knit group here, and I'm sure you'll fit right in. Heck, we're like a family, except nobody gets drunk and embarrasses themselves in front of the rest of us, and we never have to buy anything for birthdays! Welcome to the family, and I'm sure you'll grow to appreciate it.
By the way, Conspiracies was a real disgrace of an adventure game, and a Tex Murphy ripoff 100%. Right down to the cardboard cutout environmental characters, 3D enviroments, and conversation system. It's hardly a shame not many people know about it. Way to take one of the best interfaces for an adventure game imo, no matter how primitive, and run it through a meat grinder. And you thought UAKM had some wooden acting? Holy heck, everyone in Conspiracies makes Eddie Ching and Countess Reiner look like James Caan and Anthony Hopkins.

Not true, I've seen a few people do the Drunk Posting and they've admitted to it the next day once they've logged on and seen what they did the night before... lol

I can't believe I missed that. I love drunk rambling! I should really come back here more often.

I am actually guilty of the above on numerous occasions. Actually, I have done it often enough that some members here have coined a saying (that we all now use) for such occasions: To "pull a Cub".
I am not kidding.

A big hearty welcome, Tuco! So happy to see new ones here at UOTM.
Is Tuco a nickname or your real name? The only other Tuco I've heard of comes from that great western The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. No offense, but Tuco, played exceptionaly well by Eli Wallah, was The Ugly. What a fantastic movie.
Anyway, please post often, visit oftener, and hope even more oftener for a new Tex game.

Tuco's just a nickname. And yeah, it's from the Eli Wallach character.
Thanks for the warm welcome.

Eli Wallach played that character to a tee. It was one of the best "ugly" roles ever created and I don't know who could have played it as well as Eli. Also, it is my personal fav western of all time. Yes, there are many close seconds, but that one is the best.

I have to agree. That was the most tense standoff I've ever seen, there at the end of the movie. I had to have been like 15 or so, when I seen it at my grandmothers house. I sat on the edge the screen saying "So is anyone gonna fire, or are you gonna just stand there and look at each other all day?!?"
By the way, the dude welcomes you to the board, and hopes that you may find the time to abide comfortably Tuco! As long as you don't, you know mess up my carpet. Then I'll ask that you pay for it. Even if you are a dangerous criminal. I don't care. I just want someone to pay for my carpet.

The problem with that is Tuco, the carpet is already messed up and soon you will be blamed for it anyway, just so The Dude has someone to Pay for it...

I don't come here that much but I love you guys just by the fact that you all love Tex Murphy. I can't explain exactly what it is, but you all know what I mean, for sure! hahah
If you have seen earlier posts from me, you can say that I get very emotive when checking this message board! lol
Cheerz from Brazil!

Yeah, we all get a bit frazzled here at the board. It's such a great community with members scattered all over the globe. Still, we find them here united by the same thread - Tex Murphy. Kudos to Chris and Aaron for such a lovable slob.
