Pc Games With Real Actors
I fully know what you're on about, the reason why they are better, specifically with GOOD actors is that you can appreciate the quality and effort that has gone into the production, and you feel its a tangible thing in the end, that's why a lot of CG films suck.
The industry is full of idiots that support 3D Realtime rendering to its utmost limits, yet they fail to appreciate the charm of using alternatives, which we have many off. The tex series only really worked in terms of a 3D engine because it was trying to replicate Virtual Reality.. that is really where it becomes much superior to what the industry is trying to do today, which is NOT to replicate virtual reality- despite bragging about "immersion" all the time- the fact is VR is the ONLY way to do it right. Tex wasn't all the way there but at least it was trying.
This is why I kind of oppose Aaron going with all out CG in the future because I feel that Tex will loose a lot of his believability as a human and tangible character- rather instead be something associated with "A video game"- tex isn't, he's a real person (unless Chris is in fact living inside a computer... its possible how you think they got him into the game
).
but I appreciate this MORE than something that isn't real. CG can only go so far. I would also appreciate Tex still going down the VR path but we know it won't happen due to idiotic trends causing profitability issues for anyone not making COD4s and Halos

Very true, I keep hoping that my dream comes true of seeing one more Tex Murphy game with real actors one of my biggest dreams, Tex Murphy was the whole reason why I got addicted to real actors in virtual world, I am such a sucker for loving those type of games, I will always loves real actors in games forever more.
The only PC games I played with live actors were...the Tex Murphy series, of course, and a couple of Command and Conquer games. Tex Murphy: great acting (with some exceptions from Overseer). Command and Conquer: cheese (but the tolerable kind). Oh yeah, and the The 7th Guest (oh my god that's so awful) along with the 11th Hour (Surprisingly better).
Honestly, I don't care if it's live actors or not, as long as the story is well told.

I just think that having real actors in it makes it feel more real... And when you're playing someone who in a cut scene is a real person you start to feel more and more like that person while you're playing, so it draws you into the game and it that person's world just making you that much more a part of it...
Did anyone else ever play Harvester??? I enjoyed that game, I thought it was fun... lol I just can't believe they were able to actually market and sell that game back then... A game which in the end you find out that you were in a Virtual Reality being trained to become a Serial Killer...

I think Gabriel Knight the Beast Within is one of the other games that shines when it comes to real actors.
There is one other game that might tickle your fancies.
New one with live actors.
Been in production for years now, but it is on the verge of being released.
Prepare your salivary glands.

the site was down for a bit... but it should be working now.
This game looks stellar. If you like games with live actors, you should check this out.

years ago i went into a pc shop & was looking for a adult game, not a shooting, killing game but a real story. I came across murder in the first degree. game was based on quicktime video . District attorney interviewing witnesses for a murder trial. then go to trial. To win the game you have get the jury to conviction - murder in the first degree.
Three disk game, saw on abandon ware a few years back.
I then went back to the shop & found tex murphy -pandora. When it was finished I looked on line & overseer had just come out & I couldn't wait so I ordered overseer on line which was shipped from the usa. The only game I have found that comes close to tex murphy is the black dahlia.

Harvester sounds so familiar I think i saw that game in a bundle pack called the chronicles or something like that. Gabriel Knight the beast within in still one of my favourites games, from the opening movie and the whole story that just draws you. In my opinion no game comes close to the Tex Games but saying that I did play black Dahlia a lot of time and really enjoyed it, but Tex Games are the only ones still in my collection for real actors games. I tell a lye I do have Urban Runner that Is a real huge pain in the a@s to install.
I love these kinds of games too, but there were a select few of them who put half ass attempts at gaming out under the guise of FMV, and I think the glut of them, and how terrible they were killed the genre. One only has to play "A Fork in the Tale" with Rob Schneider to get what I'm saying. I mean ... I played it ... a lot ... but it was still terrible.
Yeah, so I play terrible games, wannafightaboutit?
