The Beatles Remasters + Rockband

It's almost like there's been a resurgence in Beatlemania over here given the slew of TV and Radio specials not to mention the endless promotion of the new remasters and the Beatles Rock Band game. Anyone looked into any of these yet?

I'm not so much into The Beatles rockband, but as a massive Beatles fan, the Remasters do interest me. I had a listen to "Revolution" today on the radio and you can hear the difference: crisp, sharp and I imagine it would only have to be played at 25% volume to have a decent listen. At the moment, if I play any Beatles music on my iPod (with really good Sennheiser earphones) you need to turn the volume up to about 75% to have a decent listen.

But, I say you'd be foolish to buy the boxset now, i'm saving up for Christmas myself.

From what i've seen in both the mono and stereo sets, there are no initial bonus materials or limited pressings of artwork , they just seem to be a stock standard run which means if you hold off a couple of months, you'll get exactly the same thing for less money.

But it will be a long wait for me. I'm just kicking back with The White Album right now actually, the 1987 stereo mix. It'll be nice to replace the tepid jewel case albums as they're in quite poor condition due to the fact they were the first albums I ever purchased. Plus, I don't have them all so my Beatles collection will actually be complete once and for all with this boxset.

For those audio nerds out there, take a look at this:

If you scroll down, you'll see the wave comparison between Mono and Stereo. Clearly, the new Stereo remasters have more volume and punch. This is exactly what I was hoping for. What this means is you should be able to get a decent listen from a Beatles album on headphones/earphones without having to pump the volume. Best of all, while the sound has signifcantly been amplified, apparently we can be assured that the remasters won't fall prey to the whole loudness war by suffering from clipping and other compression issues. The sound is said to be the clearest it has ever been.

I can't wait to re-discover Sgt Pepper.

Anyone else following this one?
I'm not really following it, but I know there have been way many more commercials promoting the Beatles Rockband than there have been for any of the other Rockbands or Guitar Hero games...

I just got my new issue of Entertainment Weekly, and there's John and Paul on the cover! (what about George and Ringo, guys? :x ) I knew about the game, but I was expecting that kind of attention!

I became a fan as a tween during the other Beatles comeback in in 1995-6. I hope this makes a new generation fans (which is exactly what it's supposed to do, I reckon).
I am following it simply becuase I am an audio quality freak and would love to hear some of the remastering mastery. As for Beatles Rock Band, mym ate picked it up yesterday... I think he is having a Beatles night this weekend. Should be good, even though I am not a HUGE fan of the Beatles... but I will enjoy them, and sometimes sing along.

I was in JB HiFi today actually, they're all sold out. Apparently the demand of pre-orders and first day sales has set them back a few weeks as it is far far beyond the anticipated number of units they expected to shift. I wouldn't be surprised if the band hit number 1 sometime soon as this is exactly what happened with Michael Jackson's records following his death.

But I did hear "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" today in the store too, the clarity is jaw dropping.
I grabbed Beatles Rock Band the other day and it's fantastic, especially the detail they've put into the visuals of some of the songs. There arn't that many tracks but Harmonix have said that they're going to be releasing the catalogue as DLC over time (with the same attention to detail on what happens during the songs).

I need to get a hold of some of the remasters too. ^^

As far as I am concerned, I think you can only remix something so many times..... the technology hasn't changed so much since 87....

Well... maybe it has... With the digital front you can do alot compared to tape reals.

Again drunk....

Personal favorites.... Elenor Rigby, Strawberry Fields, and Yesterday
