Warm and fuzzy Christmas Pictures! Sweet!

You know, I don't do Christmas either, mainly because I don't have any kids, but it's always nice to see other peoples celebration of it. I used to make the rounds around the neighborhood to check out the lights back when my car was actually running right. Best ... decoration ... ever ... some dude hung up some lighted words in his window that said "Humbug" .. and nothing else. Always made me chuckle, because on either side of him the neighbors had the full christmas light display :-)
I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
That has got to be the funniest thing I ever heard.

Nice pictures, but wait a moment.... the pictures (first 5) of the tree is from your house?
Is not too soon to decorate the Christmas tree?
Or is it from last year?
yes I heard one time it's bad luck if it's before 1st dec, however it must give all the shop bad luck as they have up long before the 1st........

Haha yep, although the minute the decorations go up, the xmas shoppers flood in... I'd hardly call that bad luck from a retail perspective.

We've already set up our tree, only caus we bought it early and got carried away. I will probably head over to my folks' house this coming weekend and do the Griswald thing on the house. This year we are aiming for 8,000 bulbs. If I fall off the roof I will be able to confirm this whole bad luck thing.

8,000 bulbs...........LOL

I actually got smart last year & purchased a indoor xmas tree that is decorated with lights, tinsel balls & other ornaments & they are permantly on the tree, all I do is take it out of the box mount the pole & the legs & hook a top ring over the post & instant decorated tree.
it has 3 big hoops that keep it all together.

pretty cool.

Yeah, it's from this year.

It isn't uncommon in Canada for people to get in the spirit close to the beginning of November.

Since our Thanksgiving is in early October, we don't have that holiday to worry about near the end of November.
Matt
I don't like putting the Tree up too early, you risk it drying out on you... Unless you use a Fake Tree... I love the smell of a Christmas Tree...

Yes I've heard the Bad luck thing if it is done before the 1st, but in some parts of North America you don't get any decent weather after November, hell in some parts it starts off bad in October...
Haven't decided yet, but I'm thinking of Celebrating X-Mas out in Montana this year... Now that I don't have the wife around to crying and moan about it being too cold...

P.S. Awesome looking Pics Matt... I'll post some soon...

Jeeeez, 8000 bulbs?!? That sounds too much like to work to get me into any christmasy spirit. I'm too lazy for that stuff. But I know when it's done it'll be awesome.

Are you going the Home Improvement rout Cub??? 8000???

Hopefully you aren't blinded when the lights come on and fall off the roof.

We use a fake tree.
Matt
I have an image in my mind of cub doing a chevy chase christmas, up on the roof.
not sure the name of the movie but it was a classic

Been meaning to ask the Aussies how weird is it that 95% of secular Christmas songs are about the frost and snow, or cold weather at very least? Snowmen? "Sleigh rides", etc.

It doesn't get very cold down here in Middle Georgia, but it has snowed around then before. And we know that if we go up into the higher altitudes of North Georgia or into the state directly north of us (Tennessee), we're quite likely to get lots of frost around Christmas. But maybe for those in the Southern Hemisphere it's just like it is for Middle Georgians, only on a different scale.
Those a really cool photos and definitely make me feel like getting some mulled wine out from somewhere. I'm curious as to Cub's 8000 light bulbs (and his parents electric bill!). Cub, do send us photos of that too when they're up.

I'll try and get some done when our place is done but for now there's a long way to go - the kitchen units are taking up pretty much all of the downstairs of our house, so it will be a few weeks before that goes up.

We should all post a little pic or something of our places at Christmas, maybe like an advent calendar, one or two a day until we run out.

Well, it's a thought at any rate.
