Saying Goodbye to Monk

Tonight, one of my favorite tv shows, Monk, will have its final episode. I've been watching Monk since its beginning in 2002. I was 12 or 13 at the time. I can recall flipping through the tv channels and coming across the pilot. The show has had a tremendous impact on me throughout the years. It's been apart of my teenage years. Now, 8 seasons later, I will have to say goodbye. So here, on the Unofficial Tex Murphy message board, I'm here to say goodbye.

Good bye Mr. Monk. I will miss you.

Yes, it is always a sad time when a favorite show is shut down... Even though there are endless possibilities for some shows, they can't go on running forever...

That was the last episode? I didn't even know it was canceled. My dad'll be bummed.

Did they conclude the series, or just cancel and end it?

On the bright side, a TV show that lives too long can often damage itself in the long run. Just imagine some horribly out-of-character plot element that you never had to see, and you'll be happy.

I'm pretty sure they concluded the series... Because they've been talking about it being the last season since back when the 8th season started, so it sounds like it had been planned...

They concluded the series. They brought characters back, and I believe they might have even solved the mystery behind Monk's biggest unsolved case...the one he's been carrying around since episode 1 of season 1.

Yeah the series and main plot was concluded. The final episode was pretty good though.

Great series. We loved Monk and watched most of it thru the years. The final episode (2 parts) were terrific and they went out in flying colors. And we will miss the defective detective a lot. :(

On a brighter note, Tony Shaloub was on the Today show last week and stated he is going into stage acting. Best to him.

My wife and I were big fans. We watched it every week.

The new Randy Newman song they played in the last episode's final scene has it right: "I sure am going to miss you when you're gone." :(

I just finished watching the series finale of Monk in my PVR. Wow. That was totally awesome! We solved the mystery of Trudy's death, hunted down the bad guy, got closure, and even got a pleasant surprise at the end.

The Monk writers pulled out all the stops, I was glued to the tv screen. I'm going to miss this show. It had a good run and lots of wonderful episodes. It saddens me when I lose a good show but I'm glad it was happy ending. Ah if only life worked out that way all the time.
