Upsetting to hear about STO {Star Trek Online}... Was looking forward to that game, but if it's like he says then I'm no longer interested...
Oh he's bitching about having to swap discs back in the day...
I think he'll bitch about some of the puzzles in Pandora... He just seems like the type that has NO Patience for anything... lol
Should be interesting either way...
Has anyone suggested 3 Cards to him???

Yeah I admit the disc swapping was slightly annoying but I don't recall it being that big a deal for me. I vaguely recall that if had to swap discs I was doing the wrong thing in the game.
I agree you play adventure games for the story and to get to know the characters better not to just get to the end. With questing games you are trying to achieve a goal as fast as possible but with Tex games you can spend your time.
I remember one of my favorite things to do in UKAM was to keep coming back to the newstand to hit on Cheslee just to hear her funny comebacks. I would also just click on random stuff just to hear what Tex had to say about them. I think I must have wasted an hour of the game just wandering around for fun chating with people clicking on stuff of no value.

I'm also saddened to hear about STO as that was something I was greatly anticipating. I'm still going to play it as i've never played an MMO before. Spoony seems to be disappointed with it in comparison to other MMOs he's played so i'll try it out anyway. I've really been looking forward to this so not touching the game for me would be a waste, even if I am to be disappointed. I just have to know for myself.
I thought disc-swapping was cool back in the day. I was all like "Wow, this game is BIG!! It's gonna take a LONG time to finish! So much to enjoy still!"

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Oh I agree, I'll play it myself just to be sure whether or not I like it... But if it is like he says then I know I won't be interested...Joel wrote:I'm also saddened to hear about STO as that was something I was greatly anticipating. Australian release date is 11/02/10 (Feb, not Nov for those overseas). I've been debating between the standard and deluxe. Given that this MMO for me will be an experimental journey into the genre, I might buy the standard edition so if I am disappointed I won't have any concerns over gratuitous expenditure. From what i've read online, the game's biggest flaws seem to be that it is action driven and puts the diplomatic and exploration nature of the series aside. There's also been some bugs but that's to be expected of an open Beta. We'll see.
Geek moment: i'm still deciding on a ship and character name

I don't think I'd have a problem coming up with any names, just not sure if it's going to be worth the trouble...
True, I expect Bugs even after the regular release... Bugs is just something you deal with when dealing with Computer games...
Yeah the whole Exploring and Diplomacy seem to be nonexistent... And there doesn't appear to be any type of press release saying they plan on changing that... I think there should be Diplomacy and if you choose the wrong path during the negotiations then you will have consequences for those actions...
For all the time they've put into making this, I was really expecting more than just a basic shoot 'em up style game...

May I remind everyone that no MMO launch goes to plan. Simply put Cryptic hasn't left beta, the game still is in beta, I have a subscription to the game, look me up in-game. Adelina Worsfold@Mr_Cyberpunk
Anyway the missions are stupidly grindy. However the best parts of the game are the fleet battles, and fortunately there are some real epic ones.. Especially Crystal Entity- I mean that was intense. I also did the Gorn invasion mission which is great fun too, hundreds of ships all blowing up in full PvE good ness with 50 other players.
Basically within 6 months it'll determine if the game is a success or not. A lot of people have subscriptions to the game so it'll definately be doing something. We'll see how it goes.
Add me in game if you sign up, I'm looking for a good fleet to start up.
