Ubisoft DRM Boycott

I figure this is worthy to post up here as fair warning. Anyone that has a pre-order of Assasins Creed 2 on PC may want to consider cancelation. This also applies for the upcoming Settlers game as well.
This is a new level of DRM, the likes we've not seen before.
I'd love to know what Aaron thinks of this given he did work for them. I personaly think this is going too far.
I'm reading this applies to all future Ubisoft titles as well. So you may want to keep this in mind.

This is very disappointing. When I first discovered this last year, the first thing I did was come here and talk non-stop (to the point of annoyance) about how great the GOG service was as it was a departure from the likes of STEAM with DRM free software. I also loved it for its devotion to the classics. I'm very surprised Assassin's Creed is appearing there as in the context of the catalogue so far, while it may be a good game, it's far from a good ol' game given the vintage of most of the titles on offer.
I sincerely hope this isn't the shape of things to come as I am a passionate supporter of this site and i'd hate to cancel my membership. They haven't lost me yet but they definitely have me asking some questions.

I find this idea absolutely appalling and repulsive.
<In old person voice>Back in my day, you bought a copy of a game and it was yours to play with anytime, anywhere, and as much as you wanted. We only dialed into the internet when we needed to check email.<>
I can't understand how they expect to keep players after this. The first time a user loses his internet connection and progress in the game; I can just picture them tossing their game out the window afterward.

My internet connection is constant unless I disconnect on purpose, but this is still uncalled for, especially for those who disconnect after X amount of time of inactivity, which is a lot of people in most cases... This will not be good for public relations...

Looks like I just won't be purchasing Ubisoft games on the PC.

Honestly, the DRM policy isn't what keeps me from getting Assassin's Creed 2 on the PC. Platform games aren't really made for a keyboard and mouse, and if I'm just going to hook a controller up to the PC, I might as well just get it for a console where the screen is a lot bigger.
