For a few years now...

...I've been following news about a game that's had virtually no news at all. Except that it won't be done yet, come back later.

Finally I've been seeing some new news.

Team Bondi's L.A. Noire, published by Rockstar, looks to be a proper, grade-A detective noir game. The thing that caught me most was the comment about how you can enter a murder scene and nothing is lit up. There's no visual help to find clues, no easy-mode. Just stuff. And you can look at it. And you can jot it down in your notebook. And this will later help you solve your case.

It will also feature some groundbreaking new technology for both motion capturing and lighting.

Apparently the amount of audio for this game is immense - something like 20 hours worth of voice casting. The script is supposed to be 22.000 pages long! Yes - twenty two thousand freakin' pages!

It's also supposed to be released in the fall of 2010. Which probably means spring of 2011, but hey, as long as I get a damned good detective game with noir elements for a console, I will be getting my fix.

Keep your eyes open for this one!

Yes I remember this being mentioned some time back... I remember watching the Trailer for it as well... I signed up for the Email updates, but I haven't seen anything in quite sometime...

What platform is it headed for, PC, PS3, XBox, All of the above???

I want to say that I remember it being headed for at least the PS3, but it's been so long that I can't remember...
I too am looking forward to this game very much...

It's been confirmed for the PS3 and the 360 so far. No word on a pc version yet, but then again Rockstar does have a tendency to leave the pc market for later on.

I've seen the facial imaging/caption technology in question (or at least I'm fairly sure that that's the one they were talking about) and, if it is, it'll be damn well impressive to finally see it incorporated into a game.

Imagine being able to skip motion capture entirely - and just film an actor and get a 3d digital copy off of the digital film. Instant digital actors! Sooo much more lifelike than the old analogue actors!

Come to think of it I think someone here linked me a youtube video of that technology a year or so back. If any bells be ringin' about this here speaky-talk, feel free to raise your hand and repost that linky. I wish to see that again for the funs.

Anyway, sleep. Had me one of them weekends with 24 hours at work (out of a total of 36 hours, meaning a 12 hour break in the middle) and I desperately need to collapse against a pillow.

Are you talking about the Motion Capture similar to what they used in Disney's A Christmas Carol??? If they used something like that, not only with the graphics be awesome, it would have to be one of the most expensive budgets a game has ever seen...

That technology is very cutting edge and the people to do it don't work for peanuts... I wonder how much they'll try to charge for the game in the beginning??? I hope nothing side tracks them, this game looks and sounds so much like the gaming we all once knew and loved... This might be just want the Adventure Genre needs to throw itself back into action... Then maybe someone will be willing to back Aaron and Chris and we can get that Tex game rolling...

LMAO, some of those moves look like they could have been taken right from there... That's funny...
Thanks for fetching that Cub...

I'm pretty sure the first to post about this game was Jack Vanian some time early last year... I fell in love with the game then... Glad to hear from Fred that it is much closer to a release date... Definitely gonna get a reserve copy of this one... Whenever the game store allows it that is...

For me, this is the second most anticipated game for the PS3 - Heavy Rain being the first. This game looks like it could break some new ground. I'm actually really growing to enjoy contemporary games again as the writing is starting to become as detailed as the graphics.
