Let's work on a list

Everybody,
We have still not heard back about Dr. Paul yet and I think it's time we seriously put together a contact list so we can do the occasional spot check to confirm that we are all okay.

I think Jim and the others had a good idea about making a list and letting 3 people who are constant regulars have it so they can contact people if they've been absent from the board too long.

So let's start a list. Jim is a bit busy at the moment so if you want to PM Bafitis or myself we can compile a list of people and their contact info phone/email to only be used in emergencies.

I don't want to be morbid but we can call it the "Tex Fan Deathwatch List" or just the plain "Emergency List".

Why don't you call it the List of Unofficial Usual Suspects. Seems more appropriate. And lighter.
Never too late for coffee, never too early for beer.
Or, UOTM Fan List. Regardless of what we call it, it seems necessary at this time.

Also, thanks for the help, Sam. I could help with the list but most of my efforts are directed elsewhere at the moment.

I'm perfectly willing to be a List Holder.

Also, who is trying to find Dr Paul and what's the story so far?

Fred,
Jim and Baf were getting worried they had not heard from Dr. Paul in a about 5 months. Baf found an email address and sent off a message but did not get a response. Jim looked up Dr. Paul in the phone book and called and left a message but still not response.

I was under the impression that we had in fact started such a list. I guess it was just mentionned several times.

PM is on the way, Sam.

Jim and I have both Called and left Voicemails for DrPaul... So far no call backs and no signs of him here on the Message Board...

My next plan of action is to send a Letter to him through Snail Mail and see if that finds him... As we all know Snail Mail takes some time so don't expect a report too quickly...
I will however use Confirmation Mail with Return Receipt, so I will be notified once the letter has been delivered and and I will have a signature of who signs for it...
I hope to have the letter in the mail by the end of the week, but need to word it out and find time to get to the post office...

I have no problem giving out contact info... Let me know how and to whom to give it to... Given the diversity of this board, I feel we should have at least 3 list holders... I believe in the past when we spoke of this, the list was to go to Cub, Jen, and James... Fred can certainly be added to those 3...

Baf,
I just asked people to either PM you or me. When I'm done, I was going to email it to the appropriate people.

Everybody please also give me your country code. I have personally never made a phone call outside the US.

Hey guys! I'm still alive. I had no idea you were worried about me.

When I got home today, my wife told me I had strange phone message the Tex Murphy board. Figured I better investigate. I guess I got some splainin' to do.

I'm afraid I don't have a very good excuse except to say that I am very strongly a creature of habit. However, if my routine gets off by just a little, then the whole thing falls apart and everything changes. So what's changed?

I'm still teaching Astronomy and Physics. In addition, I am also working part time at a planetarium to help develop planetarium shows on a new HD digital planetarium. For this, I use my expertise in 3D simulation and animation to do things they can't do with the standard development tools available to the Planetarium.

In addition, Ive been making boat covers, sail covers, dodgers, and all kinds of marine covers and upholstery and stuff. (Another hobby I have picked up.)

And then there's that PS3. Man, am I addicted to that! I never had a game system before. I originally bought it just for the BlueRay player. Never thought I would love the games so much. I especially like the Uncharted series and I've been doing a fair amount of multi-player gaming with that. In addition, in order to find multi-player partners, I discovered PSHome. A real-time 3D virtual world that you can meet other players and so on. So I have made a lot of friends there and spend most of my time on the PS3 instead of my computer.

It's the kid with a new toy syndrome. Get a new toy and you can't think of anything else for a while until you get burned out on it. So anyway, there've been a lot of changes to my routine and one of the consequences is that I don't get on my computer and the Internet every chance I get like I used to. I seem to spend most of my free time on the PlayStation instead of the computer and that's why I've been out of the loop here.

I will have to read through some posts here to get sort of caught up and then try to get back into the habit again.

Anyway, thanks for worrying about me. I hope you're not mad that I'm not dead or something.

DrPaul
Oh hey that's great you are okay. The guys will be so relieved. :)

Everybody else please keep giving me info to add to the list. This time we had a happy ending but let's be prepared just in case.

DrPaul, so good to see you post my friend... It is sooo nice to see that Glowing Alien again...

Very glad to hear you are among the Living... Even happier to hear that you are doing things that you enjoy and are keeping happy and busy...

Okay I guess I don't have to worry about that Certified Letter now...

Okay now we need to figure out what happen to Mr. Malloy again...
And it would be nice to hear from Stu as well... What about Sai, any news there???
I can't remember the name, so forgive me, but they had a Picture of a Basset Hound for their Avatar... Ring any bells for anyone???

Anyone else that has had an obscene absence of late???

I know that Nilo has basically given up computers to spend time with Family... He has even turned control over to someone else for his website "Nilo's Place"...

Hey Doc! Welcome back!!

-Cub. =o)
How do I spell relief? Doc Paul. Really good to see your post. Please stop in a little more often.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
What's up Doc? (Yeah. I've been waiting for that opportunity. Sue me.)

I can easily suggest Heavy Rain for those who are PS3-inclined. Probably the best game out for the console so far this year.

Still looking forward to Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire though!

Great to see you still about Doc,

As for a contact list, years ago when we were talking about making our own Tex game I had a spreadsheet with contact details for everyone who said they wanted 'in' on the project (For those who don't recall this, the idea was that JTOG was writing a story and everyone was going to use their skills to mix sound etc, while others were going to film themselves on green screens and all the footage was going to be put together to make it. I don't think we got too far, but we did have some of a story going)

Anyway, I'll see if I can find that spreadsheet - it will be interesting to see whose details are there who aren't about now and whose details have changed....
