James Bond out of action

This has been on the cards for the last 6 to 12 months, but it finally looks as though another Bond hiatus much like that of the late 1980s during the Dalton era is upon us again: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=65332

I hope the series is revived soon enough for Daniel to reprise his role as he has be absolutely brilliant and easily has another 4 films left in him. It would be a major let down to see him leave the role so early due to this.
Man this is a bummer. I always look forward to the next Bond movie, regardless if it's good or not. I watch them all.

Well the last delay lasted 5 years (that is, License to Kill to Goldeneye). Given that the latest two films have been so high grossing, it's in everyone's interests to get the next movie going because unlike the slump of the late 80s, Bond is currently at its peak and people want to see more.
I agree. Also, there's no such thing as a bad Bond movie; some are better, but none are lousy. Let's keep Bond alive!

I wouldn't mind a new Bond. This current fella doesn't interest me.

I'm the same way as FreeP... This guy just hasn't grabbed my interest at all...

Though of course I wouldn't want to see Bond halted altogether either...

I think Casino Royale was brilliant, but the last one was a bit weak. Having said that apparently the film was all scripted, everyone signed up and ready to go and then the red light puts a stop to it.

After Casino Royale I really feared they would pull a GoldenEye on us and come up with a weak entry after such a brilliant one. I can't imagine how they went from the brillance of GoldenEye to the tackyness of Tomorrow Never Dies. I enjoyed it, as I enjoy all Bonds, and found some moments to be really neat, but it was nothing on Brosnan's first entry. Then it sort of went downhill from there, and everyone started hatin on Pierce.

Casino rebooted the series the way GoldenEye saved the whole franchise. Brosnan was just as gritty as Craig in their respective first movie, and it sort of got softer afterwards, in both cases.

I was hoping the next one would come out strong. This hiatus is bad news.

I dunno Jim, Die Another Day was about as bad as you can get for an action film in my opinion. :)

I hope they get this sorted out soon. Not only for Bond's sake, but the idea of MGM going under is astonishing.

I would give anything for another Goldeneye equivilent. No one has come even close in recent years to pulling off the sheer awesomeness of the Tank scene :D.

The tank scene was a great Bond moment. I especially enjoyed his little personal touch near the end when he took a moment to straighten his tie. This he also did in The World is Not Enough while on a jet ski under water. Fantastic stuff!

Hey, AV. I realize some Bond movies did little to inspire confidence in the general public's opinion of 007. Still, I am a die hard Bond fan and will support the series avidly in hopes of furthering his continued existence. That is what I meant by that statement. True, some leave a lot to be desired.

Yeah I know Bond isn't perfect. He's very sexist and doesn't take care of the nice gadgets that Q gives him. I do enjoy the premise of the franchise. I think spy stories are very cool. That's probably why I enjoy watching Burn Notice (a much nicer spy who takes care of his mom).

I agree that Goldeneye was fantastic. I even really loved the theme song by Tina Turner. I enjoyed the scene at the beginning trying to catch that plane. Ridiculous and impractical but hey we go along with the myth that Bond can do anything. :)

Yeah, that was a great scene.

We are big Burn Notice fans as well. I think they have a great cast and well formed stories. We also love Psych and NCIS.

I hear ya Jim, i love the franchise, and the characters. There's something about the Bond fomula, and i too want the series to go on and on.

But man it's hard to watch Die Another Day... and i love Moonraker! Moonraker!

I definitely think some Bond films were far better than others, but I agree with JTOG. I own (and occasionally watch again) them all.
