Hi everyone,
I've recently started playing the DVD version of Overseer (my operating system is Vista).
It took a little tweeking to get it to work but after installing the 1.04 patch, RSX3D and DVDexpress I got both the sound and the movies to work more or less properly.
The only problem is whenever I get to a dialog choice the screen turns black and I can only see the choices on the bottom right side. After I pick one the movie contiues playing normally. This is my first time playing so I don't know if this the way it's supposed to work. Is there any way to fix this?
I did a search on the forum but couldn't find the answer, if I somehow missed it please link to it.
Also, can anyone tell my how they made the game Vista competible on GOG? I don't want to buy the game (after hunting it for some time on Ebay several years ago) but maybe I can use their method to get it to run better.
BTW, if any mods are reading this, you might want to update the Hints & Help section in Overseer. The link there is broken - fourhlaw.com seems to be offline, I was only able to get to it via the internet archive. Also, I'd recommend adding DVDexpress to the downloads section. I took me quite a while to find a proper download (perhaps my Google skills are lacking...).

the blank screen is normal, & the gog version is cd only. Make sure the midi is muted in the overseer config panel otherwise is will crash further into the game. that also stops error isn't a error message on screen.
at day three when you get to the old Anasazi ruin it will crash when you get the part when you have to cross the chasm, before this go to conf panel & change from hardware decoder to software. you will have to now go out of the game & restart overseer.Your screen may become garbled but just do not move mouse just use your arror key forward to go up the steps & then you can progress to the next part. Then change it back.
