I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

I was just thinking as I read the last few posts...

Glancing at the UOTM board, you'll regularly see people talking about side interests, news items, occasionally Tex Murphy (whoever that is), and even deeply personal stories such as mourning death and exulting in new life.

We have people from Australia, Norway, Germany, England, and all over the U.S.

We have people too young to play UAKM when it came out, and some people too old to be playing video games when UAKM came out (*ahem*JOTG*ahem*Gary*ahem*), plus lots of us in between.

We have students, authors, lawyers, fast food workers, aspiring filmmakers, the unemployed, and even people with no idea what life holds for them next.

We've got folks who are single, single again, married, married with kids, and probably a few who are married again as well.

Most of us, myself included, take some time to step back from the board periodically, or at least lurk for awhile between comments. But we keep coming back, don't we? What is it about this ragtag, motley bunch of people from every slice of life throughout our world?

We share life with each other. We're friends. And even those who don't nurse the hope that Tex will return are glad enough to hold on to the memories. And maybe that's it: our propensity for loyalty and fondness for the fun in life that serves as the glue that keeps us all together, as loose or as addicted as we want to be. UOTM is a safe haven, and I say, God bless it!

God bless us, every one!
I say Ditto to all of that... Very well spoken Jerry Dan...

That was a beautiful sentiment. This place does feel like a safe haven to me too.

I resemble that remark!

Well done, Jerry. Thanks.
Never too late for coffee, never too early for beer.
Wow, we love you too buddy!

You know while I was at work today a workmate glanced over at my screen and saw "Tex Murphy" across the top, as it always is when I am browsing the forums at work. He has seen it many times before obviously but figured this time he was going to ask what it was all about. "What's the deal with this whole 'Tex Murphy' thing?" he asked me. To which I replied: "It's a community of close friends which has lasted for well in excess of 10 years, and it all began because of a simple interest (or obsession one might argue) we share". He simply nodded and went back to work.

But I did think about it for a little bit afterwards, and especially after reading your post Jerry, and you are right... it's much more than that. Outside the realm of the games , it's what sets us apart that brings us together.

Peace.

Wow! What a way to start a Monday! Darn near brought a tear to the eyes. Aside from The Doc I have not met anyone from this board but still feel as though we've been family all our lives.

I've never met anyone from this board either. That needs to change, I feel.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
I agree with what everyone else has said. This is a great board full of a diverse and wonderful group of people who I am proud to be able to call friends.

I've been wondering that for over a month now... Was wondering where he was back just before Jim started worrying about the Doc...

Malloy did this about this time last year as well, just up and disappeared... When he came back he said it was due to monetary issues, but he had promised that it wasn't gonna happen again... So I do hope all is well with him...

I don't think the Island's done with Malloy or Dr. Paul yet.

Speaking of which I am wondering where Electron Stu is... last time I heard from him he was in this thread: http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/mess ... 317#p31317

Not much since then though... hope he is okay.

I can't remember who it was, but someone posted in one of those Threads where we were talking about missing members saying they had been in touch with Stu and that he was fine, just working and very busy... But that was back around Christmas I believe...

So yeah it would be nice to hear from Stu again... Last thing I remember is that he was working on a show with some buddies and if it was purchased he would have to move to Vancouver to continue working on it...

I do hope his show thing is/will be a success... And hopefully he will touch base with one of us or Post and let us all know how things are going with him...

good post jerry dan,

I have only met one person from this board, gee must have been about 5-6 years & I was having a problem with a disk of UAKM. When I mentioned I was in sydney australia & where my business was located it worked out he was located in the next suburb. I then started to give him a bit of business with PC issues that I couldn't handle. (small world isn't it).
