Deus Ex 3 Full Trailer
Not sure if anyone has seen this but I just watched it for the first time on YouTube. It's a full fledged teaser for the upcoming Deus Ex game. Not a teaser, but a full trailer:

If the trailer delivers on it's promise, then it has the potential to be the best of the series. I was disappointed with the direction taken with DE2. I actually like the idea of this game being a prequel as I really wouldn't want them to expand on what were were left with last time around. But the new game looks epic and truly groundbreaking. That can't quite be said about DE1. While in terms of story and gameplay it was perfect, it just lacked that certain visual polish. As brilliant Compared to the likes of other games at the time, the graphics were ordinary. But this one seems to have all bases covered.

I've had a chance to visit their studio, chat with the team and dine with one of the lead devs, and I must say pretty much all of what I've seen and heard looked promising.
Story-wise, it's looking top notch, way over par with everything we've seen in the last five years, perhaps ten. One of the Myst writers is on board, the original Deus Ex writers are consulting, and well, the script is just physically huge. Over five thousand pages huge.
I wouldn't call it anywhere near groundbreaking however, because of many of the streamlined decisions they have taken in regards to gameplay. Yes, the graphics are looking much better than what DX did (although their choice of engine is questionnable), but the gameplay mechanics are rather unoriginal and a tad worrisome for a game of this scope. Automatic Health Regeneration and a third person cover system, among other features, are easy ways out of what could've been much, much more developped.
DX was unique, in the sense that it's the only game which ever solved the problem of merging the story aspect with the gaming aspect, the one problem which even Aaron has mentionned a few times as being the big issue with games, and I'm not sure Deus Ex Human Revolution grasped this part of the original.
This said, I'm really looking forward to some final in-game footages, a demo, and of course the final game. Really excited over this!

I'm like Cub, I had to watch that a few times... Also nice to see that it isn't being isolated to just one or two consoles...

Automatic health recovery and third-person cover systems are the lazy man's way out because they are established methods of doing things!
I want something NEW, goddammit!!
Whose leg do I have to hump to get a fresh point of view on gameplay around here?

Interesting trivia: Harrison Ford was suffering seriously from, shall we say, intestinal discomfort on the day of the shooting of this scene. Originally the scene was scripted as a fight scene. It was Harrison's idea to shorten it to a "shooting" scene, so he wouldn't have to be on set so long, because of his illness.

Ahhh you are so right Gary... My bad... He does it in Town Square...
He Attempts to do it in Temple Of Doom, but realizes that he has lost his gun...
Thank you for the correction...

Coming from someone who's in touch with the fanbase, all of what we've heard and seen of the game (btw there were screenshots released) the game sounds very un-Deus Ex like. Their choices are questionable and its a strong belief that the developers only wanted the prestige that is associated with the IP rather than to do a good job with the IP.
The third person elements apparently hi-jack the entire gameplay from what we've heard, despite claims that "its a First Person Shooter" they are always followed up with "in cover it pans out to third person" and then followed up with "if you're not behind cover, you'll die a lot".
The story almost sounds like a total contradiction on the first game, and many have said that as a result of this game doing what its done, the first game will loose a lot of its initial impact because the events that happen in this prequel will lessen why it was so cool to begin with.
We still have no idea how the RPG mechanics work in this game, a gameplay trailer will ease my pain, and also the announcement of any SDK would be hot too since I am apart of one of the largest Deus Ex modding communities whom won't hesitate to go postal at the sign that they won't support the modding community, Hell even Invisible War had mod support so not doing it would be a VERY bad thing. The first thing I have planned is a colorization of the game to bring out more of the colours, the orange thing may have worked for Avalon but it just isn't Deus Ex.
On the plus side, at least they kept it Cyberpunk.. at least its not a complete miss from the original- see I'll save that argument for games like the upcoming Xcom game that totally missed the forking POINT! FPS 1950s? what Xcom game did you play?! what the fork?!
I'm getting sick of all these rehash IP games- and every single one is a total polar opposite to what we liked about their originals. Its simple blatant selling out here, and it sucks that Deus Ex had to be brought into it, we almost had it happen with Snowblind when that came out (original game's title was Deus Ex 3: the Clan War) and it would have sucked if that had been a Deus Ex game, I don't understand why they didn't think the same way with this game, it from the looks of things couldn't be further away from a Deus Ex game if it tried.
Sorry but that's just how I feel. They made really poor choices with this game, and its extremely sad when the concept art looks better than the actual game does (the Concept art is very Sid Mead Blade Runner era)
