Bad day

So yeah, I start the day by sitting in my chair, it breaks, I find the edge of the bed with the back of my head on the way to the floor. Concussion.

Later today, I went down town with my mother to find a new chair, mostly to stay awake because people with concussions ain't supposed to sleep too much. And I was sleepy.

Right up until the moment I slammed the car door over my finger and got rushed to the hospital.

So now I'm minus a digit (it's still there but not working so well, trussed up and all), and plus one mind-blowing concussion.

I'm going to bed now. Wake me up some time next month please.

Oh no Fred. That's awful. I feel so bad for you. Any one of those incidents would be bad enough but the combination must be horrible.

Times like this I wish I could do something for you like read you a story to cheer you up. I'll try to send psychic good thoughts your way.

That was hilarious! Call of the year!

On another note, on the morning of the 1st of this month, one of my main Hard Drives (which has all my programs and installations) died! Windows will still boot of course because I was smart enough to have my Windows installations on separate drives, but all my software is a bust! Now I have the very tiresome process of reinstalling! ergh!

I think it's MY monthly ritual to have a hard drive fail on me. It's kinds like my monthly wake-up-call

I bet it was western digital drive also. Maybe you should try another brand.

I read the other day that someone suggested installing windows on one disk & everything on another so you can easily change your operating system. I normally use my imaging software to get me out of trouble.

also I read aabout installing old games in your documents folder so you don't have the administrator rights problems affecting games.

tex murphy is back in town
I heard you like backups, so I took a backup of your backup and put the backup in your backup so you can back up while you backup.

Western digital actually has some of the most reliable drives out there. Out of all the drvies that have failed me, 2 have been WD (a 500GB Caviar, and a 150GB Raptor). But I have had about 5 Seagates fail. The only reason why it appears I can constantly suffering failures is because I use a LOT of drives. I am probably running about 14 at the moment all together (including backups).... so the odds of one failing at any given time are much greater than your average consumer.

For an interesting read, check out this article at Tom's Hardware, which details the failure rates across all manufacturers:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/hdd ... 681-2.html

According to that article Fujitsu, Samsung and Hitachi command better failure tolerance, but compared to their market share it translates to pretty much the same as WD. Seagate stands out as the clear loser there.
