laptop comparison
Guys,
I was at amazon and noticed this deal on a laptop and wondered about it. There was this one laptop I was considering.
ASUS U30JC-A2B ($969)
* Intel Core i3-350M Processor (2.26 GHz)
* Nvidia G310M Graphics Engine with 512MB DDR3 Dedicated VRAM and Optimus technology
* 4GB of DDR3 1066MHz DRAM (2GB x 2 slots), 4GB Max; Wireless 802.11 b/g/n
* 320GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM); Super Multi Optical Disk Drive; Windows 7 Professional Operating System
* 13.3-Inch HD (1366x768) LED Display; 0.3MP Webcam; Bluetooth; HDMI Port; 8 cell 5600mAh battery
Now on the flip side. There's other laptop
ASUS U43JC-X1 ($999)
* Intel Core-i5-450M Processor 2.4GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.66GHz
* Nvidia G310M Graphics Engine with 1 GB DDR3 Dedicated VRAM and Optimus Technology
* 4 GB of DDR3 1066MHz DRAM (2 GB x 2 slots), 4 GB Max; Intel Wireless 802.11 b/g/n + WiDi
* 500 GB Hard Drive (5400 RPM); Super Multi Optical Disk Drive; Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) Operating System
* 14-Inch HD (1366x768) LED Display; HDMI Port; USB 3.0 port; 8 cell 5600mAh battery (up to 10hrs battery life)
So the 2nd one is obvious bigger and as better specs except for 1 area. The 2nd laptop is only running a 5400 rpm harddrive versus the 1st which is running at 7200 rpm. I don't really care about the harddrive size because I won't even fill up the 320GB.
Now here's the kicker. The 2nd laptop is offering to give me a $150 Amazon gift card if I purchase it. So that would make the 2nd laptop a better deal, but I am not sure. I've always bought 7200 rpm harddrives in the past. I've never settled for 5400 rpm.
So what do you think guys? Door #1 or Door #2? Or of course there's always forget it about altogether and go home.

the i5 is the better processor & as far as the hd I always thought the 2.5 disks run at 5400 however looking at my suppliers web page the 7400 is the higher priced disk
door number 1 has win 7 pro also
the turbo boost kicks in when you are not using all the cores.
also are buying a new machine just to get a 150.00 gift card...........LOL

For the 30 bucks more, you get the better CPU and a $150 Amazon Gift Card, that could come in handy... The only thing you are sacrificing is the speed at which the Disks spins, which with what you said you'll be doing, I doubt you'll even notice...
So I'd go ahead for the better CPU and Amazon Gifts...
That's just me though... lol
