I heard NASA was getting rid of a bunch of jobs a few months back by stopping the Shuttle Program.

Were you affected at all by this?

Hope not.

Not yet. I've been informed by my company that assuming we go ahead with all intended launches I should still be employed until next summer.

We did have a round of layoffs a month ago and another one is coming at the end of this year. So far I'm still standing but who knows.

I'm trying to stay optimistic and looking out for opportunities else where in the company. I'll probably have to end up relocating somewhere else as opportunities will probably dry up in Houston. My husband and my cats are ready to pack up and go where I go.

Too bad there aren't any openings in Boeing Australia. I hear we've got a branch out there.

Good luck.

At least you still have a job for the moment. :)

Boeing is suppose to be getting into the Shuttle business from something I read in the News... If all goes well with that, then there should be plenty of business to go around...

While I understand the need for a New program for Space Exploration, we really shouldn't be giving up our only way to the Space Station and whatnot, and leaving it to having to depend on the Russians and Chinese...
I mean we already rely on China for about 75% of the paychecks in this country, that includes our glorified Politicians... I mean could imagine how much of this country China would own if they Foreclosed??? And just about everything sold in Walmart and Target and other type stores is made in China, so everyone working for those stores is dependent on China for their paychecks... And then there is our Fireworks industry...
