Computer Gurus...
Has I said before my computer crashed on me and I've been looking at specs for a new one... I only expect to have it a year or so, but here are the specs I decided on... Let me know what you think...
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
2.66GHz, Core i5
8GB capable of upgrades to 16GB
1TB 7,200RPM
DVD Burner with LightScribe Technology drive
DVD/RW Drive
15 in 1 Media Reader
1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT220
Integrated Audio, High Definition 8-Channel
All Drives mentioned are SATA... That's about the short and skinny of it... There are other technical details, but those are the basics...
I could have gotten a 2.93GHz Processor, but it was an i3, I figured dropping .3 for the i5 wasn't a big deal...
When it comes time for the major computer upgrade I plan on looking into the i7 Extreme, but there will probably be something else out by then so we'll just sit on our heels until that day comes...

baf,
if it's in a years time everything changes each week, better to have a look a month before.
forget the i3 or the i5 & go for the i7. then next stage of processors will be the 6 core, however the boards are out now for them. my board is compatible for the next line of processors.
so if your pc not working what are you using now & can you afford to wait a year.
also I have found so far that original cd overseer will not work on win 7 64 so you need
to have a dual boot into xp for those games that don't work.
however I think the gog version works. I had to download GK2 from gog as it wouldn't work also.

I'm not going to spend the money for the i7 right now... I don't plan on having this computer that long... The i7 is like 400 dollars more, no sense in that since I'm not really doing much with it...
If that stuff is available when I do the major computer upgrades then I'll most likely go with it, but right now the i7 Extreme is the one on the drawing board for the Computer Room...
I have a Xeon 5600 Series in my computer at work and an i7 Extreme in my laptop... We get new machines at work every 6 months like clockwork {really wish we could use them for personal use}... Gotta love the government...
