The Chronicles of Narnia

I know it's considered young-adult reading material, but I just couldn't resist a good story.

Yesterday I bought all seven volumes/books of Chronicles of Narnia and I eagerly look forward to reading them all. Has anyone else read them? If so, what is your assessment? Please note: I just started reading book one, so don't post any spoilers; just your opinion. Thanks!

P.S. I won't shout about it if you didn't like the books.

I haven't read them yet, but I'm planning on finish the first couple of books before the movie this Christmas!... My local bookshop wasn't able to get me the first volume when I decided to begin (just after last Christmas), and then I decided I had to read through the Hitchhikers Guide -book(s) this winter/spring...

The last month I've been reading nothing but "Software Engineering", "Advanced Java", "Linear Mathematics" and other heavy books... But Thursday is my final exam, and my mind is yet again free to read whatever it want and that might very well mean the forst volume of the Narnia chronicle!... :D
I had a set of the first 5 when i was younger. I forget most of it, but do remember they were enjoyable reads. I look forward to the movie.

I read "Narnia" books long time ago.
Cool books !
You have made the right choice, JimTOG.

Enjoy reading.

Jim, I read them in grammar school, where I learned to spell grammar. I do believe I finished them all, but I only really remember the first four. They were excellent as I recall, but I could have completely made up a different story in the many years that have passed since.

Wow. You can count on JTOG to make you feel young... again.

I read them all. Twice.
But that was many ages ago.
Aren't they making them into a movie?

I can relate to that..... :)
I remember reading them when I was young, and while I enjoyed them to some extent they kind of paled in favor of Lloyd Alexander's Prydain series (Book of Three, Black Cauldron, Castle of Llyr, Taran Wanderer, and High King.)

But one has been more popular than the other, so this is a minority opinion.

Still, I got a friend addicted to them. It's important to note he was in med school, so the appeal lies beyond the target audience.
I love the Chronicles of Narnia. I first read them as a kid, and I re-read them every couple of years. I think they are all good books, but I've always been particularly fond of "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" (I love the ending) and "The Horse and His Boy". I'm not really sure why I like those two books best, but I do.

I just examined my set of the Chronicles, and it looks like I've about worn them out. I guess I'll be in the market for a new set before too long.
Well i found 2 of the 7 Chronicles of Narnia books at library but none can be found of the Lloyd Alexander's Prydain series oh well.

ill let u know what i make of them..
I found recent reprints of the Prydain books in the young adult section of a bookstore. Very cheap, too.

Well i got the first book from library its book 6 of Chronicles of Narnia the silver chair Ill be reading it the coming days hahah
Hey Michel - not sure if you want to read the books out of sequence. The first one sets the stage for the second and so on. If you read book 6 you may not completely get the whole picture.
