I need to watch more Sesame Street with my son.

I use to watch PBS Kids all day long when my Son was younger... Some funny stuff on those shows...

I have so many pleasant memories of watching sesame street. I loved them all except for Elmo. Big Bird, Mr. Snuffleupagus, Bert, Ernie, and especially Grover were great.

I loved Super Grover's tag line. "And I'm cute too!"

Ah the innocent joys of youth when the world wasn't so scary.

Yeah this is something I feel a lot of people agree with, early on Elmo was pretty good, but then they took away the Bipolar and ADHD, and tried to make him a little suck up intelligent teachers pet.. and the toys were really so god damn awful, and even then they justified giving him his own spinoff series.. Elmo is over rated..

Cookie however... Cookie is the god of all Muppets- the sheer joy everyone feels when Cookie bursts out on camera to the sound of "OM NOM NOM NOM" is so iconic.. its a shame they ruined him by politically correcting the fact that a pure diet of cookies would have probably killed the little guy years ago.

As for Elmo, he was good when the original creator still had a hand in it {no pun intended}, but Sesame Street ended up taking Elmo away from him, that's when Elmo changed, he is still a high priced executive, but he doesn't do much of the writing anymore...
I don't know the Politics involved or whatnot just something I remember hearing or reading...
My father actually knew the guy who invented Elmo, before he moved anyway... The guy lived in a neighborhood called Turners Station here in Dundalk...

everything went to hell when Hensen died IMO. Farscape was probably the last decent thing the company did before the "selling out" era began. I'm just happy to see they've gotten their acts back together and they're making decent Sesame street stuff, after all the contravesial crap they pulled it didn't attract people to the show rather pushed them away. I mean was it REALLY important to put gay people into the show? was it important to have one of the characters HIV positive?! ITS A KIDS SHOW! lol Push your Politicially correct agenda's else where thanks.

Elmo was their corporate whore, and he still sort of is. Then they started doing it to cookie monster when they made him "Healthy".. Suddenly he wasn't cookie monster anymore

Also I think everyone can agree, THEY SHOULD BRING BACK THE MUPPET SHOW! I mean seriously, it was the best thing on TV, they should bring it back.

Well part of the original premise of Sesame Street was diversity. There was a mix of black, white, hispanic, deaf people, old people, kids, red monsters, big birds, aliens from space, and all sorts of crazy animals.

I don't mind them trying to add more diversity to the show. I don't necessarily think about it's political correctness so much as showing kids there's lots of different kinds of people in the world. But the kids were probably too young to understand it in those terms in anyway.

I was very sad to hear the Muppets are now owned by Disney. They new movies they've created recently have just not been that great. I tried watching that new show Muppets Tonight, but it wasn't that great. It was a dismal failure.

Yes I agree the day that Cookie monster says you shouldn't eat cookies all the time was a sad day. It's true you shouldn't but kids should get to enjoy being kids while they can.

Don't get me started on Elmo. Wish they'd stuff into a trunk and never let him back out again.

Yes when Henson died it was a bad turning point for Muppets everywhere... Kind of like how Disney changed when Walt died... Though Disney has thrived, it still hasn't been quite the same...


When Cookie Monster changed it roughly when I stopped watching... Cookie Monster is/was my favorite and I can do the voice pretty good too... Almost always stops a baby/toddler from crying, that or my Donald Duck voice... lol

I've had a problem with Disney ever since I read the story about how the CEO's put out life insurance policies on their minimum-wage workers on the bottom of the rung - insurances that would pay out to the CEO's in person. And how they called it "Peon insurance."

That's not just wrong, it's bordering on plain evil.
