Mel Gibson needs Lethal Weapon

There's been a lot of talk about Mel Gibson's acting career being in trouble. I think returning to the established franchise for Lethal Weapon 5 would be an awesome way for him to apologize to his fans. Seeing him trapped doing something he doesn't want to do would be hilarious. I'm not too good for this $#it!
I much as I love the Lethal Weapon films (and Mel's work in general as an actor and director), I think doing Lethal Weapon 5 would be the Hollywood equivalent of when Clinton waged war on Iraq to get our minds off Monica Lewinsky. It would come across as a blatant attempt to brush the mess under the carpet by using the film as a smoke screen rather than a creative endeavour. Mel doesn't need a side-show, he needs a lifestyle change. In using the film as a means of rectifying his personal life, he just descends further into the rinse-repeat process he has found himself in.

The best example at the moment would probably be Charlie Sheen: his life is seemingly at its peak with the Richards' divorce behind him and now being the highest paid man on television with his Two and a Half Men contract. Yet, he's found himself in more trouble which has the potential to see him back in rehab. I see Gibson and Lethal Weapon 5 taking him down a similar path.

Sorry to be the party pooper as I take no pleasure in that role, but I just can't escape the reality of the situation.
I've go to say nothing depresses me more than to hear of people who seem to have it all but can't seem to hang onto it.

Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.
It's harder to hang onto when you've got it all. We've caught the man at his worst a few times, luckily for us it usually doesnt matter if we are caught at our worst, except for maybe a little embarrassment.
