Am I blue?

So I was feeling a little bored yesterday and thought what can I do for kicks?

I decided to go to the store and buy an internal blu-ray drive for my computer so I could finally watch blu-ray movies on my computer. I found a good deal on a blu-ray writer and took the plunge.

So I install the drive and try to play a movie and then it tells me my graphics card is insufficient. So back to the store to buy a new graphics card and back home for a second installation.

Everything is working nicely now. I was surprised how easy the installation of the new drive and graphics card was for me. Plug and play really worked and Windows 7 found all the correct drivers without me having to use the installation discs.

So in answer to the question. Yes I'm blu now!

Welcome to the 21st Century... :D

Hope you enjoy your new toy, but don't forget that watching a movie while cuddling on the sofa or in bed is better...

Lynne,
I got the ATI Radeon HD 4670. It was about $100. I saw a card for $450 and thought that's insane. It was good enough for what I wanted to do. Peter is running great with the new card and drive.

I finally broke down and bought a Dell 14" XPS laptop instead of the Asus one I had been eying. So right now I'm eagerly awaiting my new arrival. I'm going to name him Marvin after the Martian. :)

the problem with dell is you cannot just buy a part & install it unless you purchase direct from dell. something to do with motherboard being stamped.
mainly effects desktops. a lot of the online stores have warnings now on their parts.

That must be an Australian thing, because I've never had a problem upgrading Dell Computers...
